"When the hell did I take this? Oh bugger, must've put it on video rather than audio...hahaha  you alright there? you sound bloody emo mate!" says Katrina supportively.

This was relatively early in the night, a (surprising) moment where we were still standing, and relatively sober. So sober in fact, I was a bit hurt when I discovered members of the below 20 demographic had no idea who Brian Littrel  was (B-Rok!) - not only that, but they had never heard of boybands either - ever. *sigh* Remember the 90's people? Remember Backstreet Boys? New Kids on the Block? N'Sync? 98 Degrees? Westlife? Boyzone? Take That? 5ive! I could go on haha But at least, at the very least, you've heard of the infamous Alive right?

You can't see much in the following footage! (bit of a snippet, a teaser) - But try to enjoy the karaoking!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZkLgXxfkSI

*more audio clips to come, taking boybands to the next step I reckon...ripped a tissue box into pieces during a rendition of Westlife's "Swear it Again" - you don't get that sort of raw old school emotion these days!

**After scouring the internet for pictures of the aforementioned boybands - It suddenly hit me, like a sad epiphany, 1. That this is possibly the gayest thing I could be doing on a Thursday night and 2. They're actually pretty ugly guys...(except for Alive)!

So last night, we were at the establishment and I took body shots off roy, then I walked back to his apartment on pitt street to splurge on the johnnie w before hooking up with him - I apparently called him my lil hurricane for some reason. meanwhile, tony was just sitting there at roys apartment watching us all night?

Is that right? I just want to get this straightened out!

  • Quick Update 2

    Friday, May 9, 2008 9:43AM / Standard Entry

The only decent thing I received from 'Fashion Week' was an inflamed throat and a bubbling fever - I suspect it was from that journalist who coughed on me, I shouldn't have even talked to her, but somebody said she was 'kinda cute" (forgetting to mention) "in a sickly, feverish kind of way". Who would've thought 5 minutes of casual conversation could leave me bed-ridden for the next 3 days! (and not, not in the good way either!)

Surprisingly, alot of people dressed up for this event - although its 'expected', I never expected interns and PA's to throw in 5K for a new handbag and a few thousand for a pair of Jimmy Choos! - is that really necessary? Yes, they looked hot - but do they have enough money for rent? In their words "I don't even have enough money for dinner!" - so, I guess not.

The night ended with Akira Isogawa introducing his new line of very colourful and highly obscure, cirque-du solei styled clothing. Or as a buyer sitting next to me commented "its very jungle-esque vs soft-rock, wild yet with a touch of serenity, now that's fashion!" - too deep for words, rightfully indescribable, but in layman's terms "fluoro-coloured smocks", guess that's what you'll be wearing in 2 years time! But regardless, it made the crowd leap to their feet in a standing ovation! And being 1 of only a handful of Asians there, I clapped extra hard - due to a bout of 'Asian Pride', and thus was approached numerous times with the question "Are you Akira's brother?" - no, I'm not - but at least I didn't get lover! - thank god.

Had an older couple sitting behind us in one of the shows, and the wife said to the husband "No more talking to pretty girls for now, I don't want you to get 'over excited' for tonight!" - disturbing on many levels, if you've ever heard old people hard at it, its very scarring. But I guess they're old swingers - so power to them!

But it got me thinking, Has your partner, or any of your partners imposed a 'child-like' rule onto you?

I've heard of the "No eating in the car" rule with couples, I've even witnessed the "No video games an hour before bed-time" rule" Why? because he tends to go 'hypo'. The infamous 'swear jar' is still in play these days. And my old friend Tony imposes an "If you don't behave, I won't drive you to school' threat (yes, he's STILL with her, and no she's not 18 yet) *whip sound* (For those new to the story of Tony, he is a 26 yr old man dating a 17 yr old - a true love story in itself I'm sure, but statutory rape anyone? haha)

In my younger days, I enforced a 'no ice-cream and no chick flicks for a month' rule as "punishment" for something ridiculous, but it was quickly confronted with 'The sex ban' haha is that fair? that's a trump card! But honestly "Why are you torturing yourself like that? you know the ban will hurt you more than it'll hurt me, pumpkin!" - which is always responded with a smileless raised eyebrow! The truth hurts I know!

Has that ever happened to you?

  • Quick Update

    Wednesday, Apr 30, 2008 10:35AM / Standard Entry

Tiredness stretched over from the weekend, for I didn't get a chance to recover from Saturday's Royal Randwick Doncaster Day. It was a beautiful day at the races - the rain stopped and the sun came out in all its glory! The day was made even more marvellous because finally, yes finally I met and exchanged words with (my dear) Miranda Kerr. Eventhough it was short, it was very memorable - "Hey, having a good day?"  I said,"Yeah not too bad" she replied. And with those soft words, she was whisked away by her boyfriend, who just happens to be A-List celebrity Orlando Bloom! haha (no chance) but next time mate, next time.

This week, I am once again surrounded by very tall women, very rich but balding men, designers, fashion photographers, lines of paparrazzi and celebrities who don't know me (yet) - all expected from Australia's Rosemount Fashion Week - yet another fashion event! (It is really not as much fun as what it sounds like).

I personally never get tired of watching scores of models strutting their stuff to deafening techno/dance and hip hop remixes, but mingling with the people next to us wrecks the brain a little bit - I really don't know much about fashion! I've also resorted to doing 'golf claps' rather than heartfelt palm hurting ones - but when the boss looks our way (who happens to be seated directly across from us), its back to the loud claps and bouts of "oh yeah, brilliant, absolutely brilliant, bravo...encore!". Fakeness is a prerequisite, Acting is a required skill.

Funny things always tend to happen, at least we try to find humour in the smallest of things. One of the models walked onto the runway with possibly one of the biggest balls of sticky tape latched onto her shoe. I wonder who allowed her to walk onto the runway like that? Isn't there usually a crazy woman, (I'd imagine with a british accent) who check up on the models before they go out? The whole 2nd row, at least the responsible advertising execs in the 2nd row had their eyes on the ball of sticky tape, just waiting for it to drop off, or for a model to come up from behind and casually kick it off her. Bit like watching tennis, lots of ascending "oooh!...", and then descending "aww...."s - but it never came off. All I could say to the "Horticultural designer" aka florist when she asked me what I thought of that design was, "Oh very brave, sticky tape is very chic - very 2009" - and she agreed with a laugh!

Second thing, before we left for a Tuesday evening show, Thomie Two Times (he repeats everything he says twice) felt his Ben Sherman shirt was a bit too informal for a dinner appointment, so he traded with Tony for his shirt and tie combo. The sad bit is, Thomie had been wearing that same shirt for the last few days because he'd just flown back from Italy. Without a doubt, funkiness emitted from the pits. Once Tony put on the shirt and lifted his arms, the aroma filled the office - it kinda stung the notrils. When we got to the show, it just got worse, everytime he'd make a gesture or anything his pits would send out a violating funk. After about an hour, we couldn't take it anymore. Luckily we saw an old friend Melissa, a scout for chic model management, and told her of the news, she took us to the back and tried to find something for him to change into. Sounded like a plan but everything available was a size 4 and under, in women's wear hahaha can't believe he put it on, was tight as a motherfuker on him! It was reminiscent of 3rd year uni when he'd wear shirts so tight, his nipples would hit you when he talked to you. He looked friggin ridiculous, he couldn't even turn around! Mel finally found a male model and Tony changed into a proper Morrissey shirt - but man, it was hilarious!

3 more days to go, I bet all this hype will 'kick in' at about Friday midday for me - when its all too late!

  • The Beach

    Thursday, Apr 24, 2008 4:43PM / Standard Entry

If you're a Sydney-sider, you'll agree that the weather this Autumn is absolutely bollocks - 12 consecutive days of heavy rain and wind - that's bloody un-Australian and I'm not liking it one bit!

I am honestly craving and desperately seeking for a peek of sunlight...just a dash...a spot....a whisper...

A sunny 30 degree day at the beach would be brilliant right about now - is that asking for too much? (And I want to meet Miranda Kerr - ok, maybe that's asking for too much)

How I do miss - Manly, Bronte, Bondi, Tamarama, Coogee....

    ..Sunrise over Manly

    ...remember to stretch Tony!

    ...Bye Bye Beach! Until Summertime...
