  • Twilight and Werewolves?

Amongst a conversation in a recent business function, the topic of "Twilight" managed to squeeze into a room filled with investment bankers, lawyers and stock brokers...

An accountant shared his story of a recent break-up with a woman, shamefully admitting  "Ever since the phenomenon of the "Twilight" series, [he] has known of 3 (he included) blokes, who have been dumped by their respective girlfriends, because, quote "They could never be as good as Edward Cullen".

Truely unbelievable, the influence that Twilight can have on the female population.

Ever since this whole thing started, you're either in or out, there's no middle ground.

I'm definitely out, and I'm glad the girlfriend didn't even give the movie a chance...so its safe to say, she's out.

So its about a guy who's a vampire, and noone suspects he is a vampire, until a girl finds out, and they fall for one another...and he goes to regular school. Why would he bother seriously? haha So many questions..(Why not just donate blood to him? Why not surprise him with a tub of blood for his birthday? Does he go back to school just to ace Senior History - "False! It didn't happen like that, I was there!" haha So many questions..)

But it seems the psychology behind the phenomenon, is that, "girls" read the book and they think "wow he's the best...he's just amazing!" (eventhough I must stress he's 'made up'...) and then proceed to look at their boyfriends and compare "Well...I'm not feeling any of the buzz that Bella and Edward Cullen are feeling, so that's it Tom, you're out!".

The best "Tom" has ever done is buy some half limped flowers from the petrol station, and Edward Cullen is flipping cars and throwing people through walls....well that's what I got from the trailer anyway hahahaha But it is an incomparable standard! Although I do know for a FACT that he takes Bella to the forest ALOT, ALOT MORE than natural and just STARES at her....(I never knew having a tall, pale kid stare at you could be considered a sexy thing..)

But has a book, movie, or character from a story changed your feelings for a partner?

Given I am to some degree baffled and slightly jealous of the Twilight franchise, because Bella and Edward are just pathetic names.

I was keen to find if there were any movie based on the names "Aiden" and "Vivian", a desperate (and highly determined) attempt in proving that "Aiden" is by far (far, far, far) a sexier name than "Edward Cullen" - Just one of my names will out-sexy two of yours "Edward Cullen"...

And also, I was keen in finding if there is such a movie couple with the same names, if not then I think it might be time to bank in on it!

Much to my surprise when I typed into google "Aiden and Vivian", it turns out there is one "Blood and Chocolate" movie, based on a book not that unfamiliar to the Twilight series. But other than a vampire, it is about a girl, who is a "Loup-garou" (werewolf), who meets and falls in love with a normal human boy. A deep romance develops between them, but the werewolf kind does not like her being 'involved' with humans..and thus bans them from seeing each other (oh the drama).

After much internal fighting (a paradox that relates heavily to the teenage hearts "I want to be with him, but..daddy will never approve) and ex werewolf boyfriends trying to kill the human, one begs to disagree that the "world" is filled with so many "coincidences", because "Aiden" JUST SO HAPPENS to have a silver medallion around his neck and we all "just so happen" to know that "silver [is] poisonous when entering a loup-garou's blood stream", and thus he "just so happens" to kill ex werewolf boyfriend and therefore angers the whole race of werewolves. Who the fuk 'coincidentally' carries a silver medallion, and also 'coincidentally' meets a werewolf, and thus 'coincidentally' enters a world of werewolf politics, drama and action sequences. Is that desired in a woman's heart? That dream of excitement and the unknown?

Although another story with so many questions, a movie where the main male lead is played by a British guy, and a cast of male 'werewolves' with an equally as perverted stare as any vampire. I really wonder why it didn't pick-up like the Twilight series!

For those who desire that little bit extra, there is a website for the movie- http://www.mydarkestsecrets.com/

And here is part 1 of the film on youtube - Its Terrible..hahahahaha

Actually, I preferred Blood and Chocolate over Twilight ~ Edward Dullen (spelling error intentional :P) ~ doesn't cut it for me as a male vampire :D

It's fantasy-land! Never read the book and not gonna watch the movie. Seems a bit too melodramatic for my tastes. Besides, if I were to get caught up in the hype, I might feel like leaving the hubby. Seems kinda troublesome. lol. I agree Edward is such a boring-ass name. Aiden conjures much more romance. ;)

I agree that Edward Cullen is just fugly. He needs some sun. I cannot stand the Twilight hype either. It's all marketing...the moviemakers are smart to target aimless teens and adult women who refuse to grow up.

And yes, Aiden is indeed a way hotter name...

I was going to read "Twilight", but then I saw it on the shelves in the Romance section and thought 'fuck that, no way!!!'  I'm gonna read Dracula one of these days, it's where it all started and probably has to be one of the best vampire novels ever written. As the old KFC slogan said; 'Nothing beats the original'

Oh and Edward Cullen looks UGLY!!! Yes that's right, the Robert Pattinson portrayal of Edward is a major turn off for me and I don't see how people could find him attractive. Robert looked ten times better playing Cedric Diggery in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" than he does as a pasty vampire. It reminds me of when "Titanic" came out and all the girls were obsessed with Leonardo di Caprio. I just didn't see it.

I don't think I'll be watching/reading 'Blood and Chocolate" either
