Mr. B and I went to see some live baseball this past weekend. No, not our favorite New York Yankees but the Staten Island Yankees who happen to be the Single A affiliate of the Yankees. Single A is the first level of the minor leagues that players usually play at when they sign with a Major League team. The Yankees are also known as the Bronx Bombers and the S.I. team have been dubbed the Baby Bombers. It was a pretty big game as they happened to be playing the Brooklyn Cyclones who are the Single A affiliate of the cross-town rival New York Mets.
The easiest way to get Staten Island is probably via the Staten Island Ferry. The station itself is kind of interesting from a graphic standpoint. I like the big letters on the sign outside. There's a walkway behind them if you want to get close. It's also kind of a gross station cause pigeons fly inside and around it. That always freaks me out since I'm so not fond of pigeons. The ride itself is probably about 15 minutes. It's not bad when the weather is nice and fairly scenic too.

Leaving downtown Manhattan

The Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges

A view of one of artist Olafur Eliasson’s New York City Waterfalls. For 110 days,
these installations will pump 35,000 gallons of water per minute up and over
four man-made towers, including one taller than the Statue of Liberty.

The S.I. Yankees at bat in the first inning.
We had pretty good seats by home plate. This was our view of the game.

Even though we attended a night game it was still pretty unbearably hot cause of the humidity. We ended up leaving during the 7th inning stretch when the Baby Bombers were down by a score of 4 - 1. We were happy to learn that they came back to win it in the bottom of the 9th by a final score of 4 - 5. Go Yankees! In case anyone is wondering, I took these photos with my point & shoot. I'll be trying to catch up on my feeds in the next couple of days. Haven't been on much this week since Mr. B has been off from work and we've been chilling.
