So I know I haven't blogged since the World Series started. I was pretty caught up in the games and also didn't want to jinx my team by talking about them too much. The Yankees claimed their 27th World Championship title by taking a 7-3 victory against the Phillies a week ago so I'm back. They had a terrific season and capped it off in the best way possible. I was a little nervous about the Phillies cause they're a really good team. I can only say that they played well but the Yankees played better. Maybe Jimmy Rollins should've put his bat where his mouth was when he made his predictions and Charlie Manuel probably shouldn't have referred to Andy Pettitte as an older pitcher with diminished stuff when he somehow found a way to beat them twice. The Yankees answered them by just playing and winning. Last Friday the city celebrated with a ticker tape parade up the Canyon of Heroes in lower Manhattan followed by a City Hall ceremony presenting the team with keys to the city. It was a crisp fall day and over a million people showed up. NYC and the Yankees know how to throw a rockin' party! The energy was incredible and it was great to see my city come together to cheer my favorite team. The parade started at 11AM but when I met with my friends at 8AM the crowds were already gathering. I was pressed up against this bus stop for a few hours and my left tricep hurt for 2 days after but I'm not complaining. My friend Wanda was awesome. She kept propelling us forward and even found a box for me to stand on for better viewing and picture taking.

People stretched out all the way from Broadway to Church St.

I think he realized the view wasn't all that great when he got up there

Perennial Yankee fan Spike Lee milled around and took photos of the crowd

Former Yankee great "Mr. October" Reggie Jackson

NYPD marching band

Manager Joe Girardi and the World Series trophy

The owners and other Yankee staff rode on these tour buses

World Series MVP Hideki Matsui who drove in 6 runs in the deciding game. He's the first Asian player to be named WS MVP. We were really happy cause he's always been a great and clutch player but one who often gets overlooked. And his nickname is Godzilla!
Rapper Jay-Z (he performed at the ceremony), Catcher Francisco Cervelli & 3B Alex Rodriguez (his gf Kate Hudson was the only notably absent WAG but it's not about her)

Relief Pitchers Alfredo Aceves, Phil Hughes & Brian Bruney

Pitcher A.J. Burnett kinda looks like this when he's about throw a whipped cream pie

Pitcher CC Sabathia & 1B Mark Teixeira were 2 new players who made an impact

2B Robinson Cano

Team Captain Derek Jeter & his girlfriend actress Minka Kelly

Hip Hip Jorge! Catcher Jorge Posada

Pitcher Andy Petittite who started and won all the Yankees post-season clinching games

The greatest closer of all time Mariano Rivera was on the last float

There wasn't all that much confetti falling by us. I didn't see ticker tape but all manner of paper from
torn sheets of office paper to shredded newspapers. People were also
tossing rolls of toilet paper back and forth and up at the floats where players exuberantly threw them back into the crowd.

People came decked out in their Yankee gear. I liked this girl's pj bottoms.

These construction workers had a great view from their elevated positions

It was total madness on Broadway afterwards

And people had to line up to get into the subways...

As much fun as the parade was, cleanup must not have been as fun
