    Apparently mobile device companies have agreed or are in the process of agreeing to standardize power chargers and earphones as well as USB cables. This is a very good thing for consumers and the environment.

    No more switching between 2.5mm and 3.5mm earphones (and buying more than one).

    No more having different plugs and USB cable sizes for different phones around the house (or for replacing new phones (or a similar or upgraded model that may use different sizing) or when buying new phones. That will conserve resources as well as free up space and confusion.

    Just when they standardize these items, cell phones will probably be obsolete (somehow!).  ::sigh::

    You reckon Apple will follow suit? Because they've often jumped around the "we're not a phone manufacturer" thing by starting they make portable computers.
