  • NEW ADDICTION

    Saturday, Dec 6, 2008 11:46PM / Standard Entry

Ok, I have found yet another addiction to add to my movie craze. I found this website mysoju.com and it is a website with Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese movies. Ever since I found the site, I have been visiting it every day to watch television series, movies, short films etc. I like all kinds of movies except porn stuff or stuff close to porn, and am fascinated with the difference storytelling styles of different countries. I have recently been able to tone down my addiction to the Philippine movies (that was crazy, hahahhaha). I still watch them faithfully and order them from Netflix, but now I'm onto the Japanese, Korean , and Taiwanese movies.

So far I have watched only the dramas, love stories, comedies, and period pieces. I will move on to the action and documentary stuff soon. I love all the martial arts stuff , but Im not sure if I am ready for the seriously graphic action stuff of the Japanese movies. My husband brought home a "mild" action movie from a Japanese film maker and I couldn't even watch it. I was very skiddish at the graphic gun scenes and other murder schenes so I'm not yet ready for the "real" stuff, hahahaha.

I must say though that through each film I watch there is a certain level of beauty to each movie. Some movies have overly beautiful garden scenes ( i mean that in a good way), some have overly beautiful waterfall scenes or water in general, some have great use of structures, others use city life as a backdrop for their scenes and use it in a very artistic way, so I am just hooked as I can be to these films. I love colors and the use of colors in movies and I have found that so far the chinese films I watch use great color, but I dont know, alot of what Im watching now is just as great. It's really hard to stay with the storylines sometimes because Im looking at whats going on in the background of the movie, hahahahahaha.

Subtitles have never bothered me because im actually looking  at the interaction of the  characters, facial expressions, background scenes and movement  and other stuff so a few characters splashed across the page wont make too much of a difference. Sometimes I challenge myself and watch the movies in their native tongue without the english subtitles to see if I can figure out what the movie is about and on a scale of 1 to 10 in figuring out whats going on I'm a 3, hahahahahaha. Im getting better at it though, and soon I will be a 10, hahahahaha.

I can't wait to see what country grabs my interest next in the film industry. Right now, im in the continent of Asia, hahahahaha. As a child and young adult I was into the British films and French films, so now Im experiencing the Asian film making scene. So far I like what I see. I would love to check out a film festival or two but right now Im not able to, but one day I will.

  • The movie Bella

    Saturday, Nov 15, 2008 2:43PM / Standard Entry

Ok, so I don't remember which one of my friends on here said to watch the movie Bella, but I did. I liked it and found it somewhat sad in a way. Although, there was a redeeming quality in the characters. The young lady who gets pregnant, the chef who is reborn through her daughter and I will stop there for those of you who haven't seen the movie but want to.

I think I saw clips of the movie prior to actually watching it, but again it was a very good movie that I too would recommend people see.

  • MAKING HISTORY

    Tuesday, Nov 4, 2008 9:09PM / Standard Entry

Today is Nov.4th 2008, ELECTION DAY!!!

Today, no matter how the vote goes history is made. If Barack Obama wins he becomes the first Black President for the United States of America. If John McCain wins then Sarah Palin becomes the first Women Vice President in American presidential history. It's funny but either way I make history through both of them being black and female. What a great day to be an african american woman, hahahahaha.

My prayer is that Obama be elected today to bring to fruition the struggles and hopes for equality of our black forefathers who bore the lashes on their backs so that we as a people could be free to live as everyone else. No race should ever be discriminated against because we are all human beings who bleed red. No matter how you cut us. I am also praying for Obama and his family because of his loss yesterday of his grandmother, the person who he credits the most for his upbringing and success. My prayers are with him today.

I do hope everyone gets out to vote to change history in America. The world is watching. Who will we choose....., who will we choose......who will we choose.........

  • a new day

    Wednesday, Oct 29, 2008 8:57PM / Standard Entry

Well, I'm over the birthday blahs and ready to see what this new year holds for me. I have alot of ideas in my head and new ventures I'd like to undertake. I'd like to take some risks now because I have been in a safe zone all my life with my career. I'm going to think it over some more and see what I come up with.

  • no so happy birthday

    Sunday, Oct 26, 2008 9:38PM / Standard Entry

Well, even though I was very thankful to see another birthday I was saddened that the person I love didn't even get me a gift. Is that ungrateful? My heart was broken but I kept my game face on and made up for my saddness by buying a new suit and some Jewelry!, hahahaha

Some days it's great to be a girl, ya know?
