I am too old to be crushing.

A girl my age should be experienced enough (or at least mature enough) to approach a guy and start a friendly conversation.  I have 26 years of experience to back me up so you would think that I could just do it.  Right?  Perhaps under certain favorable circumstances I would, but I prefer to be chased than to chase anyway.  So I dangle a carrot and hope the ass would come my way.  (Excuse the metaphor, but I unknowingly attract only assholes.)

But my current crushes are a little different.  You can say they are not even real; instead they are virtual and too good to be true. 

I’m talking about my e-crushes on Myspace: “virtual” because I’ve met these men (or at least their blogs) online; and too good to be true because they do not exist in my world.

They belong to an entirely different breed: funny, educated, and confident with a profound understanding of the people around them.  From their blogs, I get a raw glimpse of who they are, and in such a way that even their arrogance, vulgarity, and whatever flaws they possess become attractive.  It’s also amazing to discover how much I have in common with these strangers, from the books they read to the music they listen to.  Not to mention they’re also pretty damn hot.

If I ever meet any of them in person, I'll drool without realizing it because I’ll be too smitten.  But perhaps I’m in love with their Myspaces more than anything else and I give their online personas too much credit.  If that is the case, I rather be confined to this virtual space than let the real world tarnish them.
