Jet Li returns to Chinese film after 3 US movies
By MIN LEE(AP)–11 hours ago
HONG KONG — Jet Li is returning to Chinese film with a reportedlynon-kung fu movie after three Hollywood productions, a publicist saidTuesday.
Li is due to start shooting the movie — tentativelycalled "Ocean Paradise" in Chinese — Edko Film publicist Zhang Hongyantold The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday. The film, dueto be released next year, will be directed by a newcomer, Zhang said, declining to give further detail before the official announcement at anews conference in Beijing on Wednesday.
Hong Kong-based Edko Film is the Chinese distributor for the movie.
TheChengdu Shangbao newspaper reported Tuesday that Li will not fight inthe movie, but Zhang declined to confirm the report, only saying, "It'sa movie that's very different from his previous movies."
Li'slast three films were all American productions. His two most recentreleases are "The Forbidden Kingdom" — which marked his first on-screencollaboration with Jackie Chan — and "The Mummy: Tomb of the DragonEmperor." The 46-year-old action star just finished shooting the actionthriller "The Expendables."
A former national martial artschampion in China, Li first made his name in the Hong Kong filmindustry with the "Once Upon a Time in China" series before moving onto Hollywood, where his credits also include "Lethal Weapon 4," "RomeoMust Die" and "Kiss of the Dragon."

Action star Jet Li has blogged about an exciting new initiative he is involved in with former British prime minister Tony Blair.
“Yesterday, I visited Guiyang, China with Former Prime Minister TonyBlair to announce our “Thousand Villages Project” that focuses onchanging the way electricity is consumed in China and the world bytaking people off the electrical grid and switching them to solarpower,“ wrote Li. "In addition to using renewal power, switchinglighting not only in the household but also in buildings andstreetlamps to LED takes less power to uselonger. That’s like doing three simple things at once to make sure thenext generation can see blue skies more often.
“Tony told me that in Britain, driving electrical cars and using renewal power has already become the norm.
“Over the past two years, each progressive step that the One Foundationhas taken in helping with public welfare matters or charity relatedwork often makes me very excited. I’m always touched when I see evenmore people join hand-in-hand with the One Foundation and launching aproject together because of an idea, because they identify with us, andbecause they care about our society. This kind of feeling totallyexceeds the satisfied feeling of that I get after completing a film.
“If you don’t take the small steps, how will you walk a thousandmiles; the progress of public welfare and charity related work dependsprecisely on every little matter that might not be of any interest.
“Yesterday, the Climate Group and the One Foundation jointly launched the “Solar-powered LEDLighting the Thousand Villages Project”. This is the firstcollaborative project between the Climate Group and the One Foundationsince signing a cooperative strategy memorandum agreement in March ofthis year.
“I’d like to ask everyone a very simple question – have you everexperienced a power-cut before? Or maybe try to imagine, what would youdo if you had no power at night? How much would it affect yourlifestyle and the way you live? What I want to say is, there are a lotof people living right next to us – in rural villages throughout China,in India, in Africa – they live in an environment with no electricityor power sources.
“Luckily, this kind of phenomenon is in the process of changing.Yesterday, I represented the One Foundation and together with one ofthe co-founders of the Climate Group, former British Prime Minister Mr.Tony Blair, we jointly launched the “Solar-powered LEDLighting the Thousand Villages Project”. We also visited BaigongVillage in Dang Wuxiang of Huaxi district, Guaiyang. This village isalso our first illustrative example for the Thousand Village Project. The time frame set for the Solar-powered LEDLighting the Thousand Villages Project is five years. The project willinvolve 400 villages around China in the first two years. In the nextthree years to follow, the project will expand to over 600 villageswithin countries including China, India and Africa.
“Let’s take action together! I hope that everyone in our OneFoundation family will be proud of the One Foundation for takinganother progressive step!“

Chow Yun Fat looks so different in that first pic.  I guess it's his haircut, and he's slimmer.

He's got some white choppers!

Jet:  Go ahead and take this award, Donnie!  Since we're not filming a movie together, I will not cut your eyebrow with it.

God I wish these 2 would make another film together. I just loved them in Hero and Once Upon A Time in China 2. They work so well off each other not just as physical performers but as actors.

I hope Ip man gets released in cinemas here in Australia. But it probably wont.
