What's making you HAPPY today?
I can think of 3 things.
My oldest grandson will be calling me later to tell me how his birthday party went today. He got to invite 7 friends from school and 7 from the neighborhood for a party at a place called "Ants in the Pants". Must be a kids b-day party hangout.
I'm going to barbeque some spareribs for dinner later.
Tonight at 9:00 I'm going to watch Masterpiece Theater on PBS ... they're showing Northanger Abbey, which was Jane Austen's first novel to be completed for publication.
QUOTE:
In a medieval house that appeals to her most lurid fantasies, romance addict Catherine Moreland (Felicity Jones) begins a relationship with the younger son of the estate.
There are several more Austen works scheduled for the coming weeks:

Hmmm....day's still too young to tell.

I'll get back to you tomorrow.
Let's see....I did some trip planning this a.m. Did some interesting reading. Watching an old Claudette Colbert movie. I love her.
I can't wait to see this Northanger Abby on DVD. It's a new version, isn't it? Happy viewing!

Yep, it's the new version. Don't you get PBS, Flag, or will you be busy with something else tonight?

I'm the one without cable Star, remember? I'm always a season or two behind. That's not as true anymore though because I've watched a few shows on-line including Reaper, Aliens in America, Heroes, Lost, 30 Rock, Pushing Daisies, DWTS...that's about it. I also live in a little valley and even radio reception is hard to get here so I can't get anything on the old antennae in my attic. Years ago, that's all people had but it doesn't work for me. Let me know how you like it. I'm a huge Jane Austen fan. I hate when they screw with the book though.

It's a slooow Sunday, no reason to rush because I have Monday off as well due to the national holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King. I like long weekends. : )

Not much can make me really happy right now. I'm just trying to cope. The upside is that not much could make me sadder, either.
Let's just say death sucks for those left behind.

Sorry to hear that Zyrilia. Yeah, that's the ultimate sadness but you have to feel it or else you can't move on. You look around and see everyone on the streets normally functioning and you just feel how can that be, will I be like that again? You will, that's the up side. You have ears here if you wanna talk. But take care of you and yours.

Thanks, Flag. I keep telling myself "One day at a time..." That's just how I have to function for a while. Things will start to settle into normalcy again when my husband returns from California (he travelled to the funeral last week, and will return tomorrow evening).

It was snowing when I got up this morning, but it looks like it's stopped. That makes me happy.
But it's windy.

On the more contemplative side - Being alive and well.
At work this morning, as we were going in, myself and 3 other ladies on the elevator, it was cold and the other ladies were grumbling about all the chores and 'things' they had to do over the weekend. One of the ladies spoke up and reminded the others, first
where we work
, a non-profit organization that's whole meaning is helping others and second that they need to look at these 'things' and realize how spoiled we are. She did this in a very nice way and it made me happy. No matter how busy I get at work I just need to remember why I'm doing the job.
On the not so serious side - Twix candy bar made me very happy at about 3:30 today!

The sun is shining even though it's bitter cold. And I don't have to go out.
I'm going to make pork chop suey on rice for dinner.
Tonight there's a new Law & Order CI with my faves... Detectives Goren and Eames.

Flag, I forgot to tell you that "Northanger Abbey" was really good last Sun. night. Tonight it's Mansfield Park. So I'll probably be switching between that and the SAG Awards.
Another thing that made me happy today was "There Will Be Blood", along with some nachos & cheese. Anyday I can watch Daniel Day-Lewis on the big screen is a good day.

Making it home in one piece, from work. The roads were a sheet of ice, just warm enough to rain-ish, but just cold enough to freeze on stuff. The cars were covered, the parking lot was slippery. I saw 3 wrecks on the way home.
Getting a bigger tax refund. H&R Block railroaded me into an EZ form, and it didn't account at all for my 401k contributions or my student loan interest. Rotten bastages wanted to charge me $20 just to ask a f***ing question. By e-mail. But I had a person look into it, and I'll get almost double the original amount.
Weather forecasts with the highs in the 40's and 30's, and lows in the 20's. Beats last weeks stuff to crap!! Woo-hoo!!

Doesn't the name give it away? EZ......the EZ form is quicker and if you don't make a gazillion dollars and have a gazillion deductions, H&R gets their money from their clients quicker for very little work on their part....they just plug the numbers into their computer model and bingo. They make $100 bucks on an EZ form for 10 minutes of work.
Oh, I hope that didn't come off as sounding disgruntled or anything. ha. ha.
