Hello everyone!  I'd like to welcome you to the new jetli.com forums.  As you can see, things are quite a bit different here.  jetli.com has partnered with AliveNotDead.com to expand our community features.   These new (and much more robust and feature-filled) forums are just a part of it.  With your jetli.com login you are also able to utilize the community features here on AliveNotDead.  You can login by using the link at the top of the page, or if you're already logged in, click on "My Profile" to see your own personalized page.  (Please note that you should login with your email address / password and not your username / password.)

If you were a member of jetli.com's forums, you've already been added to the information feeds for both Jet Li's profile page and the profile page for jetli.com.  That means you will stay in the loop with everything that is going on with both Jet Li and his official website.  You can also add your fellow members as "friends" and be kept up to date with anything they might post or blog about.  And, of course you can utilize the other features like photo uploads, or embedding youtube movies on your profile page.  

I would also like to mention that this system is a work in progress, so please keep in mind that certain areas may or may not be working optimally to start.  In an ideal world we would launch with a perfect product, but of course there is no such thing and so we are launching with a workable product and from this point on we are working on improving every aspect of the system, integrating new and improved features, and generally just trying to make this the best place possible to hang out and learn about the featured artists from AliveNotDead (which, of course, includes Jet Li).

You can check the AliveNotDead company blog for any news and information about upgrades and updates to the website, and you can check the jetli.com blog for any new tidbits about Jet Li's official website as well.  

We hope you enjoy this new user experience and we appreciate your patience while we iron out the wrinkles and work to make this a place worthy of your participation.

In order to use this new jet li website forum system you will need to be sure to activate your account.  It's actually quite simple.  Just do the following ..

1. click on "login" at the top of the page
2. login with your e-mail address (the one you used to sign up to jetli.com) as well as your jetli.com password.
3. fill out your profile (as completely as you wish -- but the more the better, imo).

Then you should be all activated and will be able to post in the forums.
But aside from the forums, you will probably want to know a bit more about this site.  Here is a quick introduction of a few of the features of this new system so that you can find your way around ...

1. Across the very top of the page you'll see the alive not dead sitewide navigation bar.  Here is a quick description of each button ..
If you don't see all those options, then you might not yet be logged in.  You should be sure to do that.  Use your email address and password (the ones you used on jetli.com before).

Of course, below the alive not dead navigation is the old familiar jet li navigation bar.  You should be fairly familiar with that by now.

And then you can see the profile navigation for Jet's profile page below that.  You can look at his "profile", read his "blog", see how his "fans" are or sign his "guestbook".  and of course, visit his "forum".
Now, a few things to keep in mind with this new system ...

1. We don't have the same smilies that we had on the old forums so you might not see some of your favorites in the list.  We'll see about adding them back in over the next week or month or so, but until then it will just come up as the bbcode for that smiley instead.

2. If you have any technical problems with logging in or issues related to stability with this forum or blogging system, please write a description of your problem in the "feedback / suggestions" forum and one of the helpful engineers at alive not dead will take care of it.

3. We're working out a few small bugs that came up with the conversion to the new system, so we appreciate your patience while we iron out the kinks.  Hopefully it won't cause too many problems for you.

4. You should be a fan of Jet already and you will see him in your information feed (click on "settings" at the top of this page) but there are also a ton of other artists you can check out too.  Just click on "artists

well...this is something...hmmm...i seriously didnt think the changes were going to come through so fast ...i was still expecting the old site!!! i guess im going to have to spend some time on here learning all the new stuff...its very nice Narom...but atm its very frustrating...but i ll get over that in a few wks when i get used to everything...good job Narom!!! but i have one question...what do the moon and sun thingys mean?? and not that i really care or anything but i am curious as to where our signatures went...

I dont know why but it seems my ENTER KEY doesnt work with the log in page, as it would have been better if after i typed my e-mail / password, and click my ENTER KEY, im gonna be logged in but i cant.  I still have to use my mouse in clicking the enter key or TAB.  

Ok, i know im being lazy, im not a mouse-dependent person.. but yeah.. maybe thats fine.. exercise.. use those muscles..

But if there's any way   i think it has something to do with the transition / programming codes that will make me do it --- *hoping* --- *wishing*.

Actually, I'm the same way....I hate the extra step of using my mouse.  Very inefficient.

But, here's what you do:

Log-in:  type in your e-mail account, [tab] type in your password, [tab twice], [enter].

That way you don't have to use your mouse at all.  Just be queen of the tab key, baby!

There was an article titled;Mind & Body as One in Shambhala Sun magazine  about  extreme arts,on September 2004, the following is an exerpt  from it. it describes his
thoughts about martial arts and meditation. "Jet Li questions the value of such experiences. Having successfully ascended to the professional peak of his sport,the film actor(Hero,The One, Shaolin Temple) and martial artist now looks back at his rigorous mind-body discipline with disaffection. Trained from a young age,he mastered kung fu and all eighteen arms of wushu(A catchall name for martial arts): saber,spear,sword,halberd,axe,battle-axe,hook,for,whip,mace,hammer,talon,trident-halberd,cudgel,long-handled spear,short cudgel,stick and meteor hammer. He rose through every rank,gained international celebrity,and continually astounded competitors,coaches,and audiences, with is virtuosity. The man can fly.
    So it is surprising when he says today that mind-body awareness means nothing. He says that at their highest ideal,martial arts are not devoid of sophisticated awareness and certain "oneness",But he says he has never met a martial arts master who even came close to reaching this stratum and that evebn it is inherently flawed.
    Li explains that there are three levels of matering martial arts. The rist is mastering the weapon, having it become part of your body."You can control weapons like your arms," he says. the second level is when your heart becomes a weapon by "stopping the enemy with your heart before the fighting begins." When he says this,his hand motions as if he is clutching a rival's heart in his hand and his eyes blaze for a heart-stopping moment."
    "At the third level," he says,"Even the heart is no longer a weapon. No weapons and no heart,no will. The opponent becomes you," In this state of union, when the opponent strikes,he strikes himself." It is above yin and yang. there is no reference point."
    His tone suddenly changes,and he becomes dismissive again."This is the idea, but I've never met anyone who reached that level," he says."Maybe they are hiding in the mountains." He will acknowledge that the discipline required to become a martial arts master helped prepare him for the rigors of the Buddhist mind-training that now occupies his time almost fully,but only to the extent that he can sit for long periods of time without his legs cramping.
    "At the Shaolin Temple, the first Zen temple,why did they start doing martial arts?" Li asks,"If you sit for so long, you need to move and stretch so that you can meditate more. It was for that reason, not the other way around."
    "when you study martial arts you train really hard," he continues."You can sit there for six hours. Maybe it makes a Buddhist practice easier. Maybe it doesn't make a difference. It doesn't mean you are happy or that you understand the universe." He recognizes that martial artists meditate buy says it is a different kind of meditation. "It is goal-oriented meditation. Wushu contains the concept of attack anddefense. It is still dualistic. Where is emptiness in this? Where is your heart?"
     Li has been a devoted practitioner of Vajrayana buddhism for the past several years, but says that his connection to Buddhism pre-dates his interest in martial arts. It even pre-dates his current birth,he says. It is karma,not kung  fu that brought him to this place.

When I try to go to this forum via the Jet Li .com Forum button, it won't work. I keep getting the Alive not Dead header with Welcome, <a href="  and nothing else.... Does anyone else have the same problem?

DR, I just right clicked on the main page of the forum

and put that in my Favorite (Bookmark) list titled JET forum, and it opens right on the MB.

The direct link works just fine, or when I visit the forum trough the main Alive not Dead website it work fine too. Just right now I work just fine from Jet Li menu also.

But most of the times I can't acces the forum trough the Jet Li menu. No problem for me, because I know there are different ways to get here, but for wannabe newbies it good be a problem. And I just don;t like it when website buttons don't work .

But I think it's not the button, cause it works fine today.... Maybe there is an other problem, I donno, I just feld it was my duty to share this problem with the webmaster.

hmmm I get it more often, also when I'm posting or click an other link....

Yup, I got the dreaded banner of death. I came onto the forum with no problem but when it was time to log in, that's when I got the banner. I clicked on my bookmarks/favorites and still nothing. I figured maybe it's a firefox issue so I clicked on IE and came to the site, no problem. I logged in and same problem. So I went on the main site (alive not dead) and came in the long way. Clicking on forums and then jet li. After that it worked. My firefox works now too, not sure why. But yeah, it's a pain in the ass.
