We're having a cookout at my son and dil's. I'm taking the potato salad, and we'll probably play penny poker later. They live in a small town on the edge of Toledo, and we can see the local fireworks from their back yard.

Picnic at my sister. You can see the fireworks that the neighbor (himself - his two brother and a friend) shoot off. It is a professional display. They have their certificates and a permit and spend a fortune on the fireworks and it shows. One of the wives told me `they plan this all year and look forward to it like little kids and it keeps them out of trouble so that is their hobby.` One expensive hobby! Nice for us too.

Awww... that's sweet of 'em.
And they're brave too. I think getting that close to fireworks is more of a guy thing.

I'm just happy that I don't have to work. Big sale at the Sal, but they're closing early, and I don't have to go! W00t! (I get paid, anyways! How cool is that?!?) I'll be irritating the cats, and most likely the 'rents. Pa will put off some of his legal stuff. I'll make the appropriate noises. "ooohhh!" "Ahhhhh!"

Depends if I feel like braving the traffic to go anywhere, it's a huge shore weekend. I might go to my friends house, or I might just stay here & tranquilize the dog. There's a fireworks display over the river a few blocks away & she's totally terrified by the noise.
I don't feel right leaving her alone if I tranquilize her, if she tries to walk around in that state she stumbles around like a punch drunk fighter. And she's taken to losing control of her bowels when she's in that state & doesn't get tranquilized now that she's 12. *sigh*
Now that I'm thinking about it, the short version is I'll prolly be home watching the fireworks from the backyard since I was too lazy to invite anyone over lol.
Hmmn..guess it's a little late for the short version...

It would be nice of you to stay home with Molly.
I won't have to worry about Mannie because our village is very quiet on the 4th. Maybe people are just too tight to spend money on fireworks.

You know he considers you his uncle since you named him.
Mannie is a big fatso... weighs 18 1/2 lbs. He's been eating dry diet cat food (in smaller portions) for over two weeks, and I don't think he's lost an ounce.

Too bad Mannie is an inside only cat. Anyway, he'd rip somebody to shreds if they tried to put an outfit on him. He's just that kinda cat.

I'll be home reminding my neighbor that my home is not a target for his bottlerockets. ZOMG. Anybody got a kendo stick?
We used to have a really cool fireworks display over the lake but the recession nixed that.
I am, however, eating. Alot.
(And back on the subject...had to take Kat to the vet Monday for upchucking. Weighed in at 16 lbs. Heard the nurses outside talking. "What kinda dog is it?" "IT'S NOT A DOG, IT'S A CAT!" If he weren't so scared of the Monster Thermometer, he'da been offended....)

Good thing vets don't charge by the pound to treat your kitties. That's a lot of cat lbs between the 3 of you!

I can't figure how Abby got that fat. She doen't get more food than the rest, in fact I try to avoid letting her get any canned food. She doesn't get table scraps.
Dunno. She looks like a striped bowling ball with legs. She likes to sit on my chest when I wake up. It's kinda like having a cement block on my chest.
