Rashayshay? Racocei? WTF?

WTF is Rayshayshay language? I don't know how to spell the world at all, but it sounds like rayshayshay.

I dunno. I could only find 14 languages that begin with an 'r', and none sound like Rashayshay.

It was a lecture by a professor. She was talking about ambiguous language used by oracles back in the day bwaaaaaaa! I'm obsessed!

oops! It wasn't one of my professors. It was a lecture by Elizabeth Vandiver. from The Teaching Company.

I'm guessing it was a french word, if not, I dunno.

I assume the word you heard was "recherche", which is pronounced "re-sher-shay". It's a proper French word meaning "to search for" or "to search for again", but it's used in English to describe someone or something that is very elegant and refined, often to the point of being a bit pretentious or obscure - that is, it's something that has been "researched" on purpose, rather than being something everyone naturally knows.

Hope that helps and it's not too late: I've been on holiday and not checked the forum for a while...

I learned something new Spinny. Thanks for that! haha What a good college-level word! And the instructor using it without explanation....very recherche. EDIT: Sorry Colombe. I don`t have the e with an accent. Or if I do I don`t know where it is!

In fact recherché (with é) have the same meaning than in english,something elegant ,"raffiné" = studied, or affected. But recherché meaning also =wanted ,like in western movies. To search=rechercher, To search for = chercher , and seek for = rechercher ,chercher.
