We're taking my cousin out to celebrate his 21st birthday on Halloween. His actual birthday is on the 29th but it's close enough.

Cool.

I took this pic out of my car windshield yesterday at the Anderson's (store) in Toledo.  Me thinks the passenger's side needs washing!  If I wasn't so lazy, I could've gotten out of the car to take it.  But I was just driving by... killing time before my appt. with the foot doctor around the corner.

Thanks. Great pic. Brings back memories of combing the pumpkin patch at a local farm looking for the perfect pumpkin.

So did anyone actually go to a party and dress up in costume and all?

I went as Ryan Reynolds. Best costume evar.

(Jk, we don't really celebrate Halloween over here.)

Bwahaha!  I was believing that, and wondering what a RR costume looked like.

Well, I turned my porch light on after all, right at 6.  I had one more trick-or-treater than I had last year, which means I had one.  At 6:45 a little blond girl in a tiara and a pink winter coat knocked on the door.  I gave her a handful of snack-sized Milky Ways, then I turned the light off right at 7.

Halloween sure is changing.   But it seems to be the same out in CO, my grandson counted his loot when he got home and said he had 113 pieces, and they only went in their own neighborhood.

After my son got back home from taking the kids trick-or-treating, he built the first ever fire in the fireplace (since they bought the house) but only used one log.  He didn't want to be up all night  waiting for it to cool down.  The kids just loved it.  My DIL took this pic while my son was talking to me on the phone.

No trick or treaters out here in the country.  But last night someone must have had a helluva Halloween fireworks display.  At first I thought there were explosions like --- no exaggeration -- a WWII battle.  It must have been because the cloud cover was so low so it kept the sound muffled and low.  There was just rumbling like shells dropping.  I even called my b-i-l and sister (she is deaf though).  He`s an old Navy guy and said it didn`t sound like fireworks to him either.  But nothing is in the paper so all we can figure is it was fireworks.  Or else some militia redneck dude`s garage full of `fishing gear` blew up (fishing with TNT).

I was lazy.  I raided my closet and found enough things to make a cowgirl outfit - hat, plaid shirt, long denim skirt, gun belt with two holsters, my son's cap guns, and short (non-cowboy) boots.  I sat in a chair on the porch and handed huge handfuls of candy out.

I've still got like 4 pounds of candy in my cupboard, though.

Wow!  I love it when somebody shows up out of the blue.

Zy, the reports of your death were greatly exaggerated.  j/k!

Heck, I'm probably the one who started the rumors.     If I never see the inside of a hospital again, it'll be a week too soon.  I drew door-duty because I don't own a wheelchair - could barely manage to walk to my own porch.  But, I did get to sit and gossip/chat with the neighbor for 45 minutes or so, so I had fun.

What?  What happened to you?  You have been in the hospital?  I am very sorry to hear that.  You don`t have to say but I hope it all turns out ok for you and real soon too.

Oh, they've never identified the cause.  I'm on 3 different meds, for 2 different problems, and they only sometimes work.  Sometimes, my body behaves as though I've had a stroke (left-sided weakness, slurred speech, the whole nine yards).  Sometimes, my heart decides that 200 beats per minute is fun (did you know you can't breathe when your heart's going that fast? I do now).  Sometimes, my BP decides to scare all medical science with its heights.

The first problem is what happened the Friday before Halloween - today is the first day I've managed the whole day without using my cane.

Meh.  I'm falling apart.  Send duct tape.

Edit: I did tell hubby, though, that the next time I leave the hospital on Halloween, I'm stealing the gown, and using it as my Halloween costume.  I'd be the escaped mental patient.
