Sea of Heaven (tentative)

Appears that Jet's next movie's title is 《海洋天堂》(Sea of Heaven). There'll be a press conference tomorrow announcing the details, production is expected to begin by mid-September. It's not a big movie, has something to do with charity, and Jet won't have any action, and could possibly be sporting white hair, and will be directed by a new director.

By the time you read this you will likely know that all three posts showed up!    Must have been some computer delay thingie.  Anyways....interesting.  I`ll take Jet any way I can see him.

Jet Li is returning to Chinese film with a reportedly non-kung fu movie after three Hollywood productions, a publicist said Tuesday.

Li is due to start shooting the movie - tentatively called "Ocean Paradise" in Chinese - Edko Film publicist Zhang Hongyan told The Associated Press in a phone interview Tuesday. The film, due to be released next year, will be directed by a newcomer, Zhang said, declining to give further detail before the official announcement at a news conference in Beijing on Wednesday.

Hong Kong-based Edko Film is the Chinese distributor for the movie.

The Chengdu Shangbao newspaper reported Tuesday that Li will not fight in the movie, but Zhang declined to confirm the report, only saying, "It's a movie that's very different from his previous movies."

Li's last three films were all American productions. His two most recent releases are "The Forbidden Kingdom" - which marked his first on-screen collaboration with Jackie Chan - and "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor." The 46-year-old action star just finished shooting the action thriller "The Expendables."

A former national martial arts champion in China, Li first made his name in the Hong Kong film industry with the "Once Upon a Time in China" series before moving on to Hollywood, where his credits also include "Lethal Weapon 4,""Romeo Must Die" and "Kiss of the Dragon."

"Jet Li is returning to Chinese film", which is too bad... then they don't make it to the cinemas in my area of Ohio.

Star, that's what Netflix and Ebay are for. If you can wait to just watch it, it'll come to Netflix. If you can't, you can buy at eBay. I got OngBak 2, sight unseen, and Warlords, as well. My thought was, if I didn't like them, I could always sell them. As though it would be possible for me to sell Jet and Takeshi in a movie. Or Tony, for that matter.

I'd get Netflix before I'd buy a DVD, unless there was an exceptional scene of JET in a passionate situation, etc., etc., etc.


I rarely buy DVDs anymore.  The last one was "Reservations" with Catherine Zeta-Jones,  because I saw it at the cinema several months ago and really liked it, and I was standing in line at Meijer about a month ago, and there it was for $9.99.  Those people know what they're doing when they display a variety of stuff around the entrance to the cash registers while us shoppers are standing there with nothing else to do but look at it. lol

Never mind if there is no action in his future film , and  whatever the color of Jet's  hair in it ,  i will be happy to see him in  this film .

In Sea of Heaven/Ocean Paradise, Jet is playing a father, with a grown up son Wen Zhang, and they meet clown Gui Lun Mei who's giving a performance at Ocean Park. The film is on giving, and explores true love and affections from the angle of ordinary people. Jet was moved by the script, that's why he's doing this film.

Now, this is the type of movie I've always wanted Jet to be in. He reunites with Christopher Doyle, too? That's only a good thing. I can't wait! Keep us updated, Elhcay, man, dude.

Smart move, Jet.

Christopher Doyle can make any scene engaging - what a brilliant DP.  And is the director Xue Xiao Lu the same person who wrote the movie Together -- directed by Chen Kaige?  If so that was such a good movie -- and despite being in Chinese received pretty great DVD distribution in the US (it was at all the video stores I use).  Anyways....good to see Jet in a sensitive role in what should be a well-written story.  Let`s start lobbying right now for a GOOD ENGLISH TRANSLATION IN THE SUBTITLES.

I hope it's as good as it sounds. It's not listed on IMDb yet, but they are far from perfect.

In what other films have we seen JET play a father besides "New Legend of Shaolin", and "My Father Is A Hero"?  I'm sure he had descendants in "Fearless", but did we see any of them?  My mind is blank.
