Now, I am so honor to invite a new career creator. All the small-sized and medium-sized companies, we are all the same. It may be two years ago, on an enterpriser forum in Beijing, I met my star for the first time, Jet Li. The feeling he lecturing the charity, the “one foundation”, just like 9 years ago, I spoke to all the people that I wanted to accomplish a dream. So I was moved so deep, and we communicated each other many times these two years. I asked him, why you want to do the foundation, it has so many troubles actually. Maybe all of our small-sized and medium-sized companies all complain about something, like the fund is not enough ect. I think every creator all has his need, somebody needs money, and someone needs authority, and someone needs fame, but Jet LI, if you say he needs fame, I think more fame has little sense to him; and money, little sense too; or authority, I have no agree on it at all. In fact, doing the charity, I think it maybe even hurt his fame and benefit, so I really strange on it. Within two years, I have communicated with him for so many times, and every time I appointed the venue and he came. We deeply discussed about it for long time, how to do the charity as the continuance one, as the extent one, how to build up a civilization of charity, civilization of commonweal. So after these discussions, I found that Jet Li is an exact creator, a creator of NGO. Everyone when we are during our creating period, we all have some benefited motivations to move us, but Jet Li, with nothing, he just want to do his effort for this world. So today I invite Jet, to share with you that the most important thing for creator is also the responsibility, the responsibility of the society. And I am so moved for this morning, he arrived at Shanghai on 6am, but when we on the way to pick up him, the tyre was broken. He seated on the road side waiting us for a long time, I think everything when we doing it, maybe come cross some difficulties. And finally, he took the taxi himself from the airport of Shanghai to Hangzhou to participate in our meeting. So let all of us welcome him to talk with us for the effort he did this morning and the effort he did all the time.

I am so honored have this chance to be invited for this forum meeting by teacher Ma. Actually, after listening for more than ten minutes on seat, I have a feeling that our nation is standing in the whole world family after difficulties during five thousand years, so the temporary difficulty we face to now, should be treated with the attitude that is appreciation. En, actually, even though we called this is forum, but I also hope JET can introduce the reason that he found the “one foundation” first, what the start is. Just like the words I had said, it is nothing about the fame and benefits, and then what is the reason?
JET:
Firstly, it maybe has some relation with the experience of my life. From the childhood, my family was poor, so just like every creator, paid my effort to create the career, the fortune in 1980s, and continue my career in Asia and Occident in 1990s. And from my 34-years age, I suddenly have the feeling that want to find the sense of life, why we live on this earth? Then I considered of the fame, the benefit, the authority, the emotion these four focuses. Because in our minds, if we have these four points, we will feel happy, we will feel safety. But when we look into the people around us, it isn’t all the people who have these four points will get happiness. I have some friends who were president, but when he retired from the position after four years, he just like the general elders who retire from their own work, they felt just like losing something. It is really, there is somebody who has more than one hundred billion, but when the stock is down he also worry about the million he lost, just like the general family worry about the thousand they lost. So the humanity, most of the time, it is just the different between amounts, but the essence is same...Just like the Olympics, when the national flag is rising slowly, all of people, the cleaner, the prisoner, the elder, the younger, their eyes are all full of tear. So it isn’t the substance that can occupy all of our life, we also have another aspect, that is the world of spirit. From the age I studied Wushu I lived in the world separate by “yin” and “yang,” the culture of east, the culture of west; why the workers look s at the boss as this way, and also why the boss looks at the workers as that way, we lived in a comparable world. How to break through this comparable world? I spent ten years to know about the configuration of the universe, the humanity, the society, and the politics. I learned a lot of things, but had no courage; I always had the evasion that I could do the things after my retired, I could contribute to the society after my retired…But the tsunami in 2004, when the water moved to my neck, when I saw the site, there were the peoples in different color, different languages, different politics, different religions, but none about these things, they all saved people together, faced to the tsunami together. It made me thinking a long time, that time, if the god wanted to end my life, I am gone now. So…that day, I set crosslegged for a very long time; I thought that the left time of my life should be used to create again. Even though in my lifetime before, I had two stages, the first one is Wushu, I spent ten years on it, and the second one is movie, and I spent more then twenty years on it, then my third stage should be like an enterpriser, to create the charity in my heart. This is my start.
Ma:
This is the thing he really would like to do. Then in you image, how should be the “one foundation” became ten years after?
JET:
The first actuation is that the whole world donated more than four billion dollars after the tsunami happened. But one of my respected American friends, Mr. Clinton, told me he charged of the gathering in U.N, and he just could gather two billion dollars. Because under the cover of the newspaper, TV, people were full of emotion, at that time, they raised their hands and said I want to donate ten million, fifty million…But when back to the company to check the account, the stock, the fixed assets, then they found there were not enough cash in hand, so they made a discount, it’s not mistake else. So the donation is different when people under their emotion from their logos. So I spent two years to consider establishing a charity foundation that is just like an enterprise in my mind. So my first orientation is “one foundation” is a whole family. The second one is how to keep the durative of the foundation by a simply way when people in their logos. Then I studied the whole society, generally, a government or we can say a nation has three kinds of power, the first one is the responsibility of the government, the second one is the responsibility of enterpriser, and the third one is from every citizen. But now the one we always discussing about is the responsibility of enterprise, and always stay on the big enterprise, some small ones always think when we become a big one, then I will be the responsibility. Actually, I think it should be coming into another stage, “one foundation” hope that we could build up the responsibility of human being, of the citizen. It should be accomplished by a simple way, so I consider a concept that is one person donate one dollar (yuan) per-month. If everyone donates one dollar (yuan) per-month, I think most of us can shoulder it. This time the earthquake in Sichuan, this big disaster, the whole world donated forty billion for us, among of it, ten billion is from overseas friends, thirty billion is from domestic friends. Maybe some words I shouldn’t say, most of our enterprises are all broken more or less, the current assets, donated hundreds of millions one time. Only once time is ok, but if it happened three times one year, I think whether the big enterprises or the small ones, we all cannot receive so big pressure. But we can see through another circle, if everyone really live up to donates one yuan per-month, there are 500 million people using cell phone in China, that means 500 million yuan (In China, we can donate by the cell phone message), and 6 billion totally one year. If there is some disaster happened suddenly, we can call upon people donate one yuan per-week that will be 24 billion totally one year. I always say that how Chinese can do something in fast step in 30 years to catch up with American, who have hundreds of billion donations one year. And how Chinese people can do the charity as our ancestor said, doing a good thing per-day. Maybe it really needs 30 years to promote it. It’s also the same method of counting, if the Mobile phone users donate one yuan one day, after 20 or 30 years, it’s 180 billion, it is easy to gathering, and it’s excluding the part of enterprises, just the citizen. I planned a long-range aim, but how to carry out it, how to persuade everyone to donate this one dollar (yuan), it’s really not easy, really not easy. Not easy because the difference of the concept of charity we knew about and understood. The economy of China has been developing fast in these thirty years, though we meet some cold weather now. But our human being, I absolutely support us to strive for the benefits that belong to us, but there is another hand, we should consider about giving to the society, to others meanwhile. I think everyone here must have been helped by teachers, parents, and friends….when growing up to be a person. So if we can do, help others, a little. Just this simple concept, but once want to accomplish it, it’s really really really so difficult….
Ma:
The third question, you have a kind heart, a long-range sight, then how to do it, what organization and measure will be used to accomplish it？
JET:
The first thing I did is….though the “one foundation” is a charity, but I treat it as an enterprise just like a creator, so the first thing is the exact analyse of market. Which stage of the charity have achieved at in China? So….before my forty-year age, Jet Li never asked for any help from anyone. I always said I have ability, even you don’t like me, but you must like me making money for you, so you must invite me. So whether in Hong Kong or America, I stated in this mentality, never attended in any prize ceremony, and hadn’t went to club and discotheque (HAHA..applausing) But when I made the decision to reverse my mind from inner-heart to wild world, I asked for help from government summit to every person. Just for one dollar (yuan), I said goodness to guys for more than 10 thousand times. So the exact orientation in world wide is one foundation one family.
How to do it? Everyone donate one dollar (yuan) per-month. If you are a child, you don’t have money, it is ok, just one hour to help others per-month. I invited an American company…in China the work was done by Bain to make a market survey in China that is worth 2 million, but they are for free. That is about the capacity of donation in China, the revenue, the education and so on to make a marketing analyse. All of the things lie on this marketing analyse. And we also invited Ogilvy and BBDO to help us to do the promotion; meanwhile we invited Deloitte to do the accountant that can keep the transparence and the same step with the world. How to achieve the goal? The first step is orientation, and the professional team. How to execute it in transparence? How to keep the durative? This is the level that “one foundation” should get to as an enterprise.
If we couldn’t get it, no body will do the donation. Because the donator’s will is pure. I agree with your goal, and then if you have long views and plans, the next one, how did you use the donation, you defalcated, you spent on yourself….the third one, a convenient way to donate, I take a bus and then stand in a long line in bank just find the result is being laugh at by the staff in bank for one yuan. So the convenient is important, this should be built up under the nowadays technology, the internet, the cell phone…how to make it simple, let people easy to do it. I think it is propitious to the growing of the “one foundation” step by step under a definite orientation and a professional team.
Ma:
Thank you! The fourth question, in your imagination what is the worst situation that “one foundation” will face to? And by now, what is the worst one?
Jet:
En...There were so many difficulties I have faced to. Actually, at the beginning I thought the conception that everyone donates one dollar (yuan) per-month was easy to do. But I studied it in America, Europe, Middle East, Canada; I also asked for the professor in Harvard University, finally, I found that it isn’t easy. There are two categories of foundation, one is donating money by self, and the other is encouraging all of people do it together. So all people around me persuade me choose the first one, but my idea isn’t like this….they all told me if you choose the second one you may be criticized by others, even though you pay out your money ,your energy, your heart. But in my mind, the first one can’t keep the durative, Jet Li donating 100 million, Mr. Ma donating 100 million, but if we pass away, everyone should be waiting for the second Jet Li, the second Mr. Ma. In our general minds, we are always waiting for a hero to save us, why can’t we be the host to help us, help others?........In China , the biggest problem I faced is the structure, the development of philanthropy drop behind the development of economy at least 20 years even 30 years. It is so difficult to operate without the protection of the law even thought everyone recognizes it. I treat every donator as my customer, they bought my concept, and I should reward my message to them; the circle can’t circulate fluent, then the chain of money can’t be got through, and then even effect the circle. Everybody recognizes the idea, but there is a lack of the structure and law, it can’t get to the total transparence. Some professors said on the newspaper that “one foundation” should be done better. I totally agree with them, we have a long distance with the international philanthropy; they are transparent, professional and fair-minded. We just can try our best to be transparence under the permit of law in China now. I can be an excellent professional man in Wushu or in films, but in philanthropy, I am so young, I just prepared for it for two years and created for it for one and a half year. So I always say that the suffering in this one year equal to the summation of my forty years which I lived in myself. But I think I live in this world just one time, I have breath this time, I must insist on…then I can say it is worth for this earth bringing me up, the most important thing our ancestor gave me is the spirit. (applause…….) Thank you, thank you…”one foundation” can be without anyone, but the transparent platform for philanthropy. The foundation doesn’t belong to Jet LI, Jet just thought it out; it belongs to everybody, belongs to everyone. Just with this thought it can continue after 30 years, 50 years, and 100 years. Even we are all not existing again, our offspring can still continue it under the goodness in everyone’s heart.
Gathering them together by every little bit, then the whole world society can get to a real firmness upon the development of the material. That’s my dream. To realize this dream I had faced much frustration, but I can’t tell you too much about it, because if I did, I will face to much more frustration. HAHA (applause)…thank you.

Thank you. I think in everyone’s eyes, he isn’t a star but a real career creator now. There is just one sentence in creator’s minds that is insisting on your way. And I believe after the 20 minutes that Jet had told us about his plan, the ideality, the far-sight, executive plan and the forecast of risk, who will like to donate one yuan per-month, please raise up you hand.
