Advantage and Frountline are realy good because it kills the fleas on the cat, in there bedding and any where else the cat spends the majority of there day. The applicationn will basically kill all the fleas that have hoped off and are roaming the house eventually. A flea bomb of the house is also a good idea but if you can't leave the house empty for a day go to the pet store and look into some of the surface sprays that they have for fleas. There not as instant death as the flea bomb but far less invasive in your life.

I had a nasty outbreak here, this summer. First one in all the time I've been here (almost 12 years.) My mom sent me up a jug of Ortho Home Defense. It comes with a sprayer nozzle, and a small hose into the jug. It doesn't even smell that bad. But it's pet safe, after it dries. And works for up to 8 weeks. I sprayed and sprayed and sprayed. If I saw a jumper, I sprayed. And dosed the lot with Frontline. But the Ortho helped. You can find it at a garden store. Or maybe the garden section at Hellmart. It comes in a green squarish gallon jug, with a yellow and white label, and a yellow lid. It even reduced the number of spiders setting up house in my bedroom. Just be sure to keep Mannie out of a room, after you've sprayed, until it dries. Then it's fair game. My gang isn't bothered by it at all.

I agree Star.  Vet caused it.  Vet's dime.  They could've given him a bath too.  Since you caught it quickly I doubt it'd be cause to use chemicals.  But that may be wishful thinking for you.

OK, here's how it played out.  I called the vet clinic at 1:00 and explained to Sharon how my cat got fleas at their clinic last week.  She said she'd have to check Mannie's record and see if they had ever found a flea on him when he came for a visit.   I said please do... he's been here 4 times and Dr. Thurston scanned him the first 3 times and didn't find a single flea, but last Wednesday I just dropped him off and left.  She checked and said I was right, he had never tested positive for fleas in 4 visits, so she'd check with Mark, the vet tech, to see how they would handle it and call me back.

About 2:15 she called back and said that Rhianna said when I dropped him off last Wed. for his procedures she SAW fleas on him but forgot to write it on the chart, so they could only give me a free one-time only Advantage application.  I said that's a big fat lie, my cat has never had a flea, never been outisde the house except for his vet visits, has never been near another animal, and that I certainly didn't have fleas in my house until I picked him up last Thursday.  I said a few more things, then the conversation ended.  I jumped in my car and drove right out there, and she was all friendly and smiling... "Hi Kathy, here's the stuff", then she explained how to use it.  Since I gave him a flea bath yesterday morning, I can't use the Advantage until tomorrow because flea shampoo closes the sebaceous glands for at least a day, and they need to be open for the Ad. to work.

The waiting room was empty and there were a couple of open doors, so I took it and said to her in a rather loud voice, "Would you please tell Rhianna that I said she is a liar.  And I will find another vet clinic where the employees don't lie."  The smile came right off her face, and I turned and started walking.  She never said sorry, goodbye, nothing, just dead quiet as I walked across the room and out the door.

Everything would've been fine if she had called me back that first time and said we're sorry, Kathy, come out and we'll give you a one-time only dose of Advantage.  But noooo.  Rhianna came up with the convenient story//lie, probably so they wouldn't have to give me more.  The free single dose would've been fine with me... no need for lies.

There's a very nice vet clinic just 3 blocks from me where I took my dog for years, so I'll call them next July for his booster shots.  The only reason I didn't take Mannie there was the day I called for an appt. nobody answered, so I called this one that's a couple of miles down the highway that I pass when I go to Walmart or the cinema.  And that's too bad because I liked the lady vet real well.

That's awful. I have 2 different vet clinics that I use, and they're both grand. One is smaller, and the vet is a real peach. She's very good with all of my gang. The other place is better for getting in, for an emergency. They have 6 or 7 vets on staff, and the chief vet has been my vet for over 20 years. He had the clinic where vet 1 is now. He moved into larger facilities, and runs 5 exam rooms. Vet 1 worked for him, but the practice got too big for her tastes, and she went back to the old building, and set up shop for herself. I prefer going to her, but the other folks are very good too.
I did have a bad experience with a vet my parents used for a short time. I took #2 girl there for her spay, and what a mistake. They hadn't even made sure she was out of her anesthesia fully, before sending her home. The op was on a Friday, and they wanted to get out. When we got home, she couldn't even stand up. They didn't send any pain meds home with her, nor called to see how she was. I took her to my regular vet (#2, I think) and they checked her over, sent her home some pain meds, and called 2 days later to see how she was. 2 weeks later, the dillhole that did the op called. Believe you me, he got an earfull. I've never been back since.
And I guess the moral of the story, for both of us, is to stick with the folks you know and trust.

Wow....that's unbelieveable that they would indirectly call you a liar, Kathy.  It would have 'saved face' for the clinic to not bring up a single excuse and just give you the single month's application of Advantage for free (the customer is always right...especially KATHY!!!).  The absence of your business at that vet clinic is their loss.

Write to the vet.  She should know what's going on in her clinic.  Unless Rhianna picks up the mail for her.

But vet techs are a dime a dozen around here (because of the community college program).  She should know that her staff is losing her customers.

There has to be a way to reach the Dr.

That's such bullshit.

Flag's right!!!  There must be justice!!!!  Write to the newspaper...the better business bureau...the state insurance committee!  (okay...strike the last one...)....better yet, let's go on a witch-hunt for Rhianna, the lying vet tech!

My license has walked away

I'm so upset that I will probably have to get a new license.  I went somewhere yesterday that I had to show it and the people waited to tell me that I couldn't go in with open toed shoes, dress shoes.  Well, darn, I was pissed.  And somewhere between exiting that place and arriving home yesterday, I've misplaced the thing.  Damn!  Well, I guess it DMV for me on Saturday.

Peace to all, Shaotie.

Yes Seeker, however there is no hurricane brewing near puerto rico and there never was.  It is kind of funny.  I am still angry.     My co-workers are not the brightest of people.

The other MB that I belong to has a mod who posted paparazzi-generated pictures of Rafa. Then they defended it, but are clamping down on folks talking about whether the pics come from a pap. I made a post that commented on another site not posting them but remarking on the origin of the pics, as why they weren't posting them. So, I find my post deleted, and a PM asking if I didn't get the order NOT to talk about it? But they posted the f***ing pictures! So my comment was, 'you'll post the pictures, but not the comments?'
It's the most ridiculous thing I've encountered, in the last few days, anyways. And it's not like here. There are some absolutely inane posts. Sometimes I feel my IQ falling, just reading them.

Yeah, I was pretty floored. But the folks at the Vamos Brigade won't post them. In all honesty, I think my days of posting at his official MB are over. This isn't the first incident that has rubbed me wrong.  I don't blame Rafa, but I think there may be too many mods. There's got to be 12 or more. And I don't think they're all as conscientious as they let on. The VB is a bit slower with the pictures, but they seem to have more scruples. And fewer idiots. If I had a $1 for every post that was just non-sensical, all "ooohhhh, aaaahhhh, He's so HOOOOTTTT!" I'd be able to take more time off from job hunting. Jesus. Grow up, girls. I'm not saying I don't think that, but I'm not going to waste bandwidth posting about it. You have to wade through pages of shit like that, just to get to new pictures.
They took me to the woodshed for posting some of the screencaps here, as well. But some of them I see are now at yahoo. Much ado about nothing.
F*** 'em.

I went thru the drive-up window at McD's last night to get a fish sandwich, a drink, and 3 choc. chip cookies.  A girl gave me the pop, then stepped away... next a young man handed me a bag with the fish sandwich and said, "Did she give you the cookies?"  When I said "No", he said "She didn't give you the cookies yet?".  I said, "Didn't I say NO?"  Right at that minute the girl leaned around him and handed me the little bag of cookies.

What did he think, that I'm trying to get $1 worth of free cookies?

Then I get over to Walmart to buy a few groceries, and several of the grocery aisles were closed off because they were putting wax on the floors with a machine (of course!).  When I checked out, I said to the cashier that I'd have to remember not to come on Sunday evening anymore due to the waxing, and she said they usually do it late on Sunday because there are so few customers.  I said, "What time is it?", and she said, "11:45".  I had no idea it was that late. I had wondered why the store was so empty.  We're talking a small farm town here.  I guess we're lucky McD's and WM both stay open 24 hours.

Star, they've got your number, now. The vet's office called ahead to MickeyD's and Wally's, and now they're comparing notes, on how to get you riled up.

We have had far more vehement disagreements, without anyone getting banned. Holy crap.
