OK, here's how it played out. I called the vet clinic at 1:00 and explained to Sharon how my cat got fleas at their clinic last week. She said she'd have to check Mannie's record and see if they had ever found a flea on him when he came for a visit. I said please do... he's been here 4 times and Dr. Thurston scanned him the first 3 times and didn't find a single flea, but last Wednesday I just dropped him off and left. She checked and said I was right, he had never tested positive for fleas in 4 visits, so she'd check with Mark, the vet tech, to see how they would handle it and call me back.
About 2:15 she called back and said that Rhianna said when I dropped him off last Wed. for his procedures she SAW fleas on him but forgot to write it on the chart, so they could only give me a free one-time only Advantage application. I said that's a big fat lie, my cat has never had a flea, never been outisde the house except for his vet visits, has never been near another animal, and that I certainly didn't have fleas in my house until I picked him up last Thursday. I said a few more things, then the conversation ended. I jumped in my car and drove right out there, and she was all friendly and smiling... "Hi Kathy, here's the stuff", then she explained how to use it. Since I gave him a flea bath yesterday morning, I can't use the Advantage until tomorrow because flea shampoo closes the sebaceous glands for at least a day, and they need to be open for the Ad. to work.
The waiting room was empty and there were a couple of open doors, so I took it and said to her in a rather loud voice, "Would you please tell Rhianna that I said she is a liar. And I will find another vet clinic where the employees don't lie." The smile came right off her face, and I turned and started walking. She never said sorry, goodbye, nothing, just dead quiet as I walked across the room and out the door.
Everything would've been fine if she had called me back that first time and said we're sorry, Kathy, come out and we'll give you a one-time only dose of Advantage. But noooo. Rhianna came up with the convenient story//lie, probably so they wouldn't have to give me more. The free single dose would've been fine with me... no need for lies.
There's a very nice vet clinic just 3 blocks from me where I took my dog for years, so I'll call them next July for his booster shots. The only reason I didn't take Mannie there was the day I called for an appt. nobody answered, so I called this one that's a couple of miles down the highway that I pass when I go to Walmart or the cinema. And that's too bad because I liked the lady vet real well.
