Beijing Rocks
I recently watched Beijing Rocks and thought it was fantastic! It gave such an insight into musical groups in china that I was so unaware really existed! It was gritty, unique, colourful and very chinese!
What did people think of the ending tho? ... ie the relationship between the leads (played by Daniel and
ShuQi)
After everything that went on and the development between them throughout the film and it ends in nothin?
How could they just walk away from each other???
I loved that last scene with the mexican jumping beans...was so sweet!
Goodnight Beijing - wot a song!
What does everyone else think of this film??

197 views later and only 7 voters on the poll and no discussion/replies formed.........eeeeeeeek!!!!
my idea of a forum is a platform for ppl to share/vent their opinions, thoughts etc etc
AnD forum seems to be used for picture sharing (which is cool) and one liners like 'love the pic' .... 'thanx for sharing' (which is cool....we are so civilised)
There are threads like 'where are u from' which has had lots of responses! (which is good)
but wheres the substance???? are fans on AnD only interested in gawking at pretty pics and capable of 10 syllable max replies?????
end of rant ........... sorry!!!
BUT where are all your voices man?! cmon power to the ppl!!!!

That's what he means. Since he hasn't watched it, he can't discuss it.

I watched this flim about 2 years back. I thought it was not the typical kind of movie I'd like but as I got to the end it was not too bad.. haha. I like the style and how those Chinese rockers wannabes are portrayed.. didn't know that such a culture existed in China till I watched it.. or maybe I haven't been exposing myself to such Chinese films more..!
But overall I liked it. Something different and refreshing out of the norm.

I watched it a long time ago. Details are fuzzy.
I like how they split up at the end. Shu Qi belonged with her bf even tho he dies (right?). The bf is such the hot-head though. Seems like he's doomed to failure he can't deal with someone disagreeing with him. You don't get liked (and, hence, get ahead) if you behave like a spoiled, impatient brat/child.
I don't particularly like these love triangle stories. They're created just so we could see some sex and 2 guys w/ 1 gal, or 2 gals w/ 1 guy.
DW was young and cute. All wide-eyed. We won't be seeing him in these fluff movies any longer. Is that a good thing?

Yeah, I watched this a long time ago too. I do know that I didn't love it. I don't think I cared either way.

Ya i think i agree ShuQi in a kinda tragic way did belong with her bf even in the alternative ending(?)
I guess in a way DW had entered into a world to which he didnt really belong to and even tho he is welcomed into the group due to being at the right time and place and they are drawn together by their love of music making there are many instances that remind us that he is still very much the outsider. An upper class background with links to wealthy Hong Kong and US and he was actually in a band which had been signed and was being promoted. These are all the opposite circumstances to the friends he makes in Beijing.
DW not being in fluff movies any longer i think theres been a few since this one, no???
