oOo I'm back!

Yeh can't wait for the album. Best wishes on that! BTW-- Yulien, very good questions!

Anyways, my question is: First of all, you're an ABC right? If so, when you lived in the US, were you signed onto any US labels? If you were, how was it different from Hong Kong?

If not, then why did you decide to develop your career in HK? From listening to your songs, you mostly write english lyrics too, so I thought you'd wana stay in the US.

Woah, sorry for the 'mass' questions going on there! Thanks for the responses.

what do you think of jin's cantonese album?

also there's seems to be some quality and good all round hip hop mcs/musicians in hong kong; is there a mutual relationship you guys share and (i know there is a difficulty to it but) how comes you all don't hook up for a big one off album? or even just songs?

han jin, dj tommy, mc chef, mc yan, lo jim, kwokkin erm even the fama crew etc?

Katie -X: Actually, I'm CBC (Canadian Born Chinese). I was born in Montreal and moved back and forth from HK. I never was signed to a label--because basically as a youngster I just was messing around with music. It was something to do and you could party all the time.

Why did I start my career in HK? Well, actually, it just happened. When I arrived here music kept calling me so step by step: joined a band, made an album, did loads of shows, people liked it, kept on making music, people support it, etc. There wasn't a conscious decision to start a career. Just a committment to make music.

Director: Jin's ABC album? It's good. Jin is an amazing artist and I'm a big fan of his for sure. To me he's up there with Yao Ming about what he's representing with the overseas Chinese people.  BTW Jin will be performing this Sunday at Armani Bar so, I'm there to show support, to a muthaf*ckin' dope MC!

But back to your question: Yes, I've worked with all the names you've mentioned; check out Supathugz "So Hot It Hertz" it's got all everyone except Lo Jim "I love You Boyz"???! Sorry man, that is not anywhere close to hiphop. Should there be more collabos? I feel, all the artist you mentioned have developed there own style, twisted hiphop to there own thing, so maybe that's why there are less collabos between us. All good though, makes the scene more diverse.

All comments are intended constructively. Looking forward to any discussions! peace

That was a long reply...but very interesting (otherwise I wouldn't have read the whole thing).

I live in the US and all I have to say is thank god I'm in California. Any of us that has bothered to step out of the country know that Americans are not well liked. I think California should be its own country...it is the 5th largest economy in the world and I don't mind eating citrus fruits every day (because that's what we grow here).

When you see Jin this weekend...maybe you can remind him that he hasn't written a blog entry yet.

Question...how do you define what type of music category/genre you like? If it's just hip hop...what do you like about it? I don't know if I'm making any sense. When people ask me what type of music I like I usually say everything, which is actually true. I listen to whatever appeals to me...sometimes its hip hop, sometimes its pop, and sometimes it can be country (I do love my Faith Hill and Reba). I don't understand Korean at all but I fell in love with this one Korean tv theme song just because the music sounded so romantic and soothing. Anyways...I'm going to stop blabbing now.

RenRen: Thanks for your reply. Yeh, I don't wanna hate on the US. I love their sub-culture; music, fashion, entertainment, pizza, citrus fruits etc. I guess my beef is just their politics and foreign policies. Shout-out to US homies and the good people there.

I like all types of music. Like you said when you hear something good, it's good. What attracts me to hiphop is the beats and rhymes. peace.

no way... .ur from Montreal?!?!  cool, vancouver rite here hehe

how was da CLOT anni party? u should blog it up, i'm so interested

Americans and Canadians nvr good friends.  They just love mocking us so much cos of our good nature haha.

I got a ques for ya... i remember i first remember you is cos of your voice.  It was really unique   I think it's important for any rapper to have a noticeable voice.  Is it possible to develop one or actually learn one. Cos i know some singers (dun wanna mention names) they incorporate rap into their music, but their "voice" is just NOT suitable for rap.  Rappers like you, Jin and as far as Eminem as this distinct "tone" I really like

Not everyone can sing or rap. There's an art to it. But, definitely you can learn to perfect your own unique voice. I have these old tapes of me singing--damn they are funny and hard on the ears. My favorite rappers and singers are not the technical ones, but the ones with a personality and soulfulness that shine through. Those are the ones that inspire me the most.

!

Hey greetings there Ghooooost stylee,

Man just lemme clam down and briefly say what's going on right now
I've been an avid listener of your soundtrack since the initial D and absurb to say i could'nt find anything related to you when i was google-ing about the soundtrack.
No doubt,i was enlightened that you're the producer of the holy grail but to no avail for other soundtracks or how can i get my hands of the initial D soundtrack.YES im slow i know.

I was so in love with that soundtrack thinking that since your nick is ghost style perhaps you just made one soundtrack specially for initial D and stay behind the scene keeping low.
I ogled and rolled in malls to find your albums but i failed miserably.

And guess what, just,i bumped into your blog without knowing how and it's fantastic , i listened all your soundtracks in your blog and they were awesome man but then again do forgive me cause i havent read any of your blog entries or forum posts yet.I'll read when time allows me.
I registered hastily, read through your profile and looked for a place to drop you some Qs

Nevertheless, props to low-tone motherfuckin voice and crazy mixes.Your mixes are nothing short of fascinating with a tinge of ambiguity style.GHOST STYLE.

dude,where can i get ALL(yes ALL,including the previous seasons,old,whatever) ones ?

Can't think of any questions yet but when i do i'll drop it like it's hot.I've gotta run now as i 've got work to do.
Anyway, Im Ryu ,18 from Malaysia.Shoutout from Malaysia here.

Cheers.

Waddup Ryu,

How's it going? Hey, man thanks for the support and digging my music. Actually, the music on the Initial D soundtrack was by composer Chan Kwong Wing, who also did the Inferno Affairs music. I was the vocal talent; rapped and wrote lyrics to his compositions. It was a cool project and I'm glad to be part of it. I've gotten alot of great feedback from the people who listen to it.

Initial D The Movie Soundtrack is available CD form at places like HMV. Just ask the info counter. For my music you can contact info@rebelstudio.net--they can hook you up with my past albums.

Nice one and good to see you on Alivenotdead.com! Peace man! holla

Would you ever want to sign with a major record label if the opportunity came and if it didn't go against what you believe in? Just curious. ;)

Hi Musicnote, thanks for your question, sorry for the late reply. If a major label offered me a deal and there wasn't any conflict, sure why not. You only live once! There were a few good reads on how the music industry is changing...Rick Rubin at Capitol records? And the new situation that Radiohead has got is pretty interesting.

I think majors need more music people being part of the industry. Anyways, any majors overseas, hollatchaboi! peace

I usually listen to the music first and then the lyrics come naturally. It's cliche but inspiration can be found all around. I write exaggerated fiction...blow up stuff that I've felt or experienced. Good luck with your music...post a link so people can share. peace

Hi Ghost Style! Thanks for answering my question!
Is it easier for you to compose music or write lyrics? Which one do you prefer to do?

Also, what do you think about musicians offering music for free?

Thanks!!
Happy New Year!
