to me before the old AnD is just a fan site n fan interacting

the new AnD now is more than dat, it not only fan of artitsts but fans and supporters of ART & MUSIC, and also interacting not only b/w fans but also with different people.  It's about constant communication w/ others n even urself.  For me the whole purpose n addiction of coming to AnD is that the strong urge of people's need to COMMUNICATE and SPEAK.....  ur not just communicating w/ ur own lil networks of friends, but ppl with common interest.  Feels great!

What I see comming.. -The Future

Because Aive Not Dead offers the options of one artist becomming a fan of another, it instantly becomes a self promoting & network tool for fans and artists.. The members artist or fan in general show appreciation for one another.

The Official Artists are role models for fans and aspiring artists like myself. It would be even more exciting & powerful if the Official Artists collaborate online choose or vote to "Make a star" of potential individuals on AnD. The make a star option may only for now  allow them to become an "Official Artist".

To speed up communication and recognition , it would be nice if this site had a live chat area with chat rooms like "Actors" ,  "Singers" , "Visual Artists"  ,"sculptors" etc..    Ratings may show up on the users in the rooms and or a lil star next to their name that represents a request for individuals to look at their work and or rate their work.

Alive Not Dead should also allow the aspiring artist to show case their work, mp3, video etc.

For all people typing Asian and Asian and english, wouldn't it be nice if you hold the cursor/mouse over the Asian blog and it is instantly translated in a small pop up  to the prefered language of the user reading it ;)

Thanks for this thread Terence

Positive resources

This website is all about positive news and thoughts that the artists really want the public kinda know
and  pay attention to rather than those stupid gossip created by the 3rd party. Some personal life pieces
can  also be share through this communication channel which is great cause they are real.

Especially for the band to promote their music and believe here.
There are too many negative issues in the entertainment media, its good to have one which is FREE and
CREDIBLE!!
Keep up the good work~

bringing out the creative energy

I had been checking this site since i was living in the usa.. because i was interested in what chinese artists/ musicians were up to.. you don't get to hear too much about it from the other side. Since i moved to Asia - its been an important tool for me to check the most current gigs.. and the upcoming talent and the whole indie scene which the UK has.. but the USA was different .. and yet i feel it happening over here.. quite strong... i need to keep in the know even though my own background is fashion...its about being fed & helping to keep the creative spirit strong .

I can't live without music.. its a huge part of my life..and asia's scene is huge... the music scene has an interesting alternative mix up... besides cantopop.. influenced by other music genres.

I like the way this site is also unique that you can bring reg. fans and peeps closer to the artists...
with all of the back scene photos and goings on.. its really important as many are living in that fantasy world.. and this way they really get to see the love that goes into making the movie/ the music... etc.

I became a part of AND without my intention but because I had been a member of jetli.com.  Joking, but I had been really a member of JLC since 2000, but had been dormant for a while not until now.    Peace!!

Well, from this site, i found out that Daniel Wu is the cute guy in a chinese film i watched before (i think its Naked Weapon, not sure if it has a different title when in other countries)  but after seeing that movie, i wanna see other films starred by him and the other female stars in it, but i dont know who they are.  But they are very good and i hope you can feature some of them here too!

When movie houses started showing more Asian actors/movies here, and after seeing CTHD, Hero, Kung Fu Hustler, Shaolin Soccer, and the like. I became more interested watching movies composed of the actors behind those.  So, i think this is a good place to start getting to know some of these artists in those flicks and find out about their other movies or upcoming projects.

Its the best place to advertise themselves, their projects, and maybe some personalized or cool stuff or merchandise they want their fans to have as well.  All in one community.

In the case of the MB, i can only speak for the JLMB for now, but its always been a cool place to hang around or interact with other people and friends who have the same interests, bout Jet Li, wushu, etc.   and for now that you have the chance to really know the person you get to talk with by means of their profiles, blogs, and picture sharing, then that is really a big plus.

With the current features of AND, its also a good place to widen your network of friends, read and exchange discussions / comments / blogs,  seek help (which I really used to do even before through the JLMB),  and who knows, you might be sipping a cup of coffee with them n the future, watch movies with them, train in wushu with them, etc.

To sum up,  i find AND as a very cool place to hang around online whenever my time permits.

P.S.  I apologize if my thoughts are mixed-up.    my eyes are dropping now.. 12mn.. gotta head to bed.

Alivenotdead- A Vision

Alivenotdead, it's a network channel consisting of different individuals from all walks of life, sharing our views on expanding the Asian Art scene. My vision is for it to encourage individuals to appreciate and embrace a different perception and expression of Art (includes Acting and Music), be it in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Singapore. In which, Asia is able to express itself freely beyond the cultural 'normalities' that it is now perceived. I believe that every culture is different, but it's all about bringing forth this culture to the world out there. For instance, look at how Martial Arts have been adopted in the Western countries. It started-off in the movies, where usually the heros are able to fend-off a legion of villians without the weapons. In chronological sequence, I can see how the paradigm had shifted for the Hollywood movies where the adoption of Martials Arts is embraced. See Matrix. There should not be a restriction in expression unless it contains explicit contents. In the Asian Music Industry, I hope that artist are able to create their songs by being experimental in the instruments used. The use of Synthesizers to create music is an overkill. Creativity basically comes from expressing oneself in an individualistic manner. This expression is what I call 'Art'. But, I guess the factor that is holding most artist back is how this could be achieved.

Some Sadness & Regret

Although Alive Not Dead on their about page promotes/advocates "World Wide Artists"  I feel sadness that if the majority of Asians in this forum thread prefer to keep this website exclusive for the Asian artist which wouldn't  allow us to share a common spiritual bond, a cultural representation of unity of my artwork.

I am not Asian myself but my art possibly represents a common thread that holds us altogether.. my paintings and music is reflective of Asian, African, Egyptian, East Indian, North American Indian etc.. I feel honored to be accepted by all traditions. In past history, it is rejection that leads to wars and mistrust..(missing trust)  and that thought seems to be constant behavior from us all starting in Childhood.

I hope you feel I am worthy because I feel, think and hope to represent all cultures, I represent you. I love Asian culture and all the rest I said above.
It's the greatness of humanity that I want to paint and our greatness & unity of us all that I wish to premote.

As a returning user.. i forgot my old name >_< its a way fo me to connect back into the HK music scene and discover new artists and maybe make friends with similar tastes to me. I don't live in Asia of course (that would make things far too simple ;) ).

Its also a good idea to have a point of contact between fans and artists. I have found in my time on the net that there are people out there capable of the most outrageous lies to do with HK stars and also a fair amount of people willing to believe them. I know fandom in Asia works a little differently to that in London, but you get craziness everywhere.

For fans like myself so far away from Asia, but very much in love with it, its vital to have a point of contact, a place to begin looking for more than the slick studio productions that have mass appeal
