Enter The Phoenix Hollywood remake
Jackie Chan's production company has sold the remake rights for theaction-comedy "Enter the Phoenix" to a producer of "The BourneUltimatum."
The2004 Cantonese-language original was directed and co-written by itsstar, Stephen Fung. The plot centers on the gay son of a boss whosedying wish is that he take over the family business. Chan was one ofthe producers.
Hollywood remakes of Asian films are hot, withsuch properties as "The Grudge" and "The Ring" storming the box office.Earlier this year "The Departed,"Martin Scorsese's remake of Hong Kongbox office winner "Infernal Affairs," won four Oscars, including bestpicture and director.
Andrew Tennenbaum will produce the remake, according to a statement from his L.A.-based Flashpoint Entertainment.
"Thisis my first Asian film remake and I couldn't be more excited," saidTennenbaum, who also helped make "The Bourne Supremacy." He said he wasmeeting with writers and directors to create the adaptation.
Oookaaay.

Oh oh! I love the part when that red strawberry jam oozes down DW's crown, near the end. That was just so goddang believable. Gawd, why can't HK even do blood right?

Someone who kinda, sorta looks gay. Hm. Chris Klein's cute but I think his name is too small. Maybe they're thinking older. I don't know who. So no more guesses.
Wonder how they're going to work the crime family thing. Is it going to be like The Departed and it be about Boston crime ring, or is it going to be Ital-americans..... Where can it go?

this reminded me of those tvb kungfu series. everytime when the attacker attacks you with his palm, somehow the receiver always bleed from his mouth. how does that make sense? or when someone is shot with a gun, he'll bleed from his mouth too.

Oh yes! All those old kung fu movies (gangs, etc. anywhere there's physical fighting), always had the strip of blood from the side of the mouth. hahaha. Nowadays, they have blood coming out of the nose (too).

Hmm, yeah, the article that the news section linked to didn't mention the "family business" was triad connected. I really don't know how this movie's gonna turn out, aye. HK and Western audiences like to view such different things. Although I loved The Departed.
BTW, do they ever mention what Fes' real name was? Fes isn't his name, it stands for Foreign Exchange Student.

Why would they have John Cho in this movie when it's prolly not going to be Asian crime family?
The actor's name who played Fez was Wilmer Valderama. The character's name is just, plain "Fez." Well, I've not watched one episode so if the once revealed Fez's real name, I'm ignorant.

ooh.. ryan would be a hot man for the character, and he would add a touch of comedy, his own style, that would totally make it a fun film. good suggestions!
Fez will NOT DO for DW's character... he's too... small. i wouldn't be able to believe that he goes in there and kicks stephen's behind... ahahha.. who's gonna be stephen?

Disappointed to hear of the news
Very disappointed for a remake.
I mean they don't see other countries remaking American movies. *shakes head* At least I haven't yet to see one.
I wonder if this will win anything and again they say it's from the "Japanese".
