Angels & Demons movie
The sequel to "The Da Vinci Code," "Angels and Demons", is rumored to be on track to start filming this July with Tom Hanks reprising his role as Dr. Robert Langdon and receiving a hefty-hefty paycheck. Gisele Bundchen is rumored to play the brainy (!), physicist partner (Vittoria). Ron Howard will direct. Akiva Goldsman has adapted the book into a screenplay.
I read this book last year following my reading of "The DaVinci Code." If you want to know the plot of the book, "Angels and Demons," <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_and_Demons>read it here. </a>
I recall thinking that unless one was familiar with the written work, the rattling off of the numerous theories, concepts and foreign-sounding names and phrases in "The Da Vinci Code" film would very easily confuse. I felt confused even though I read the book, causing me to take a mental vacation during the key kitchen scene with Sir Leigh Teabing and their seemingly long discussion. I'm pretty good with details but I suppose not being a big fan of the book just negated any need to retain such details.
In "Angels and Demons," *spoiler!* the Pope is determined to have died from an overdose of the drug, <a href=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heparin>Heparin.</a> I do have personal experience with this drug. It was weird to me that it was mentioned in the book because I just happened to know what it was. That doesn't happen very often. Don't you just gloss over the medical terminology when you watch medical shows? ;)
I would imagine the same religious controversy will help power the second film’s box office.
It will be interesting to see what the interior of the Vatican looks like even though it'll only be a reproduction on a set. And seeing landmarks (or reproductions of such) of Rome will be like taking a pseudo-mini-vacation. And why Gisele besides the obvious screen-candy? Can Gisele even act?? She's not even Italian. I mean, Vittoria's got a lot of dialog in the book. If I watch this film and have the thought "she can't act" keep popping up in my brain, it will distract from enjoying the merits of the screenplay and the filmmaking. That would not be good thing.

must be a joke
I think the Gisele part, who can't be considered an actor just yet (maybe 20 years from now) is total rumor-mongering. If they expect to make a trainwreck, she'd be the one to take it in that direction. haha.

Naomi Watts to play the female lead.
Tom Hanks' receding hairline is disturbing. Aging male Hollywood celebs really, really don't have to worry about their looks.

Snuck out and watched this in the theater.
Entertaining.
That blonde cop, Thure Lindhardt, kept reminding me of Lucas Grabeel of High School Musical. And Ewan McGregor in his long, drapey costume only made me think of Obi-Wan Kenobi. And Stellan Skarsgard was Boostrap Bill (w/o all the barnacles) from Pirates of the Caribbean. Yeh, this isn't the way to watch a movie, I know.
The movie is so efficient. I think the book is a little more suspenseful. Go read it.
