Jet Li co-star Mark Dacascos on Dancing with the Stars

Mark Dacascos, Jet Li's co-star from "Cradle 2 the Grave", has been announced as one of the dancers on "Dancing with the Stars" season 9.

and comment on Mark - and don't forget to click the 'I like this' link at the top.

Let's help a Martial Artist make a wonderful showing on DWTS - I'm sure Mark will do his part ;-)

I actually got up and watched all of Good Morning America to see who was gonna be on there this season.  Yeah, Mark!  I hope he doesn't choke on any black diamonds!

I heard about Mark Dacascos being on the show from his myspace page. He's pretty flexible
being in martial arts for many years. I'm assuming that it will translate well into dancing. But then
you look at Jean Claude Van Damme who is one of the most flexible actors in MA films who
can't dance for squat and it's like... who knows? I'm not a very big fan of the show but I might
check it out. Even if it's on the net so I can fast forward through it.

Shawn Johnson was on Letterman (a rerun) this week. and she said that the contestants can't have any dancing in their background, which is why ice skaters and gymnasts (and maybe MA stars) do so well.  Their bodies are already trained, and they have the instinct to hold their arms, feet, etc., in graceful forms, which has to be an advantage over the average Joe, though lots of them have done quite well.  Like some of the football players... and 82 yr. old Cloris Leachman.

I'm sure that some of the actors and singers on past shows have had some dance training. As in
working with choreographers for their acts or in plays but none are "professional dancers" by trade. But you're right Star, I think that some MA'ist would do well on the show. Besides, unlike VanDamme, they
will be working with some top notch choreographers. Heck, maybe VanDamme would actually do well
on the show with some training. Perhaps in a future broadcast. His career can use a boost since it seems to be in the toilet.

I was just repeating what Shawn Johnson said.  Everybody knows that Donny Osmond danced on his old TV show (the one with sister Marie)... just not ballroom dancing.

JRS turned me on to Dancing with the Stars.  I was like who the hell wants to watch a bunch of D-list celebs fumbling around on the dance floor....but it`s frigging addictive!  I will like watching Markie D perform.  Should be interesting.

I know. They say that yet they've had people who've trained under professional dancers for certain roles.
And most of the guys from boybands have done nothing but danced with choreographers to prepare for
their shows. But it's true that most do not have any training inBallroom, Salsa, etc. etc. Basically the
dances that require a partner. It's just that they make it sound like these people never had any kindof
dance training at all.

Don't get me wrong. I've seen a few episodes and I can see why people like it. I just hate that (game/ reality/ dance) shows are being green lit while sitcoms, drama and other shows aren't. Also, it's Mark Dacascos not Markie D. When you said Markie D was going to be in it I thought, Prince Markie D (Mark Morales formerly of the Rap group the Fat Boys) is gonna be on it? That's friggin awesome! But then I was like wait a minute. Wait just a doggone minute now. Markie D = Mark Dacascos. CRAP! But it's cool, I like Mark Dacascos but seeing Prince Markie D would have been cool too. I may have had to actually watch the entire show.

What I hate about it is the audience vote part.  People who are doing really well and are interesting get voted off in favor of the flavor of the month.  It is a popularity contest.  I was just punning with the Markie D comment.  I didn`t mean to nipple twist you.

Ballroom dancing is very different from hip hop or anything else.  Even Mya (another contestant on the show with a dance background, not in ballroom) will have to start from scratch.

DWTS is so addictive to me!  I actually don't like the elimination night, though, because during the season we get so " attached" to celebrities and their dance partners that it's sad to see a couple get eliminated.

I heard on Good Morning America that around week 6 there will be 3 weeks of double eliminations.  That's six couples, folks!

I always watch it, and it's amazing how much better MOST of the celebs get each week with the heavy practice schedule.

Macy Gray may be fun to watch... she's 6' tall.     I like to hear her sing.

Macy Gray still doesn't have a pro dancer partner according to Wikipedia.  Everybody else does, though.....I wonder who ABC is negotiating with....  ::ponders::

Well bless her heart.

I also watch "So You Think You Can Dance", and there have been some short guys, but other than the hostess, Cat Deely (5'9"), none of the girls have seemed very tall.
