THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT... - BARRY
Barry Szeto is a new breed of eclectic singers breaking into the music industry with a touch of soul and a lot of determination. He was born in Vancouver, Canada and it was there while he was growing up that he first learned to play the violin, guitar and piano at the tender age of seven years’ old and started writing his own songs at thirteen. On top of that he became dedicated to his voice training which paid off at the many local talent shows he took part in. Szeto became known as ‘the little boy with a big voice’ influenced by artists like Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey, Boyz II Men. In 1998, he competed with Island/Def Jam recording artist Fefe Dobson at the Apollo Nite talent show in which he gave her a run for her money. It was a must-see competition. He was also a finalist in the KISS 92.5FM Talent Search and a runner-up for favourite vocalist on the popular Canadian TV show Today's Talent Time, a spin-off of Star Search. Szeto began to build up momentum and everybody who heard him had to sit up and take notice. With the support of his family, Szeto secured more breaks as time went on. Szeto recorded his first demo with producers Kushal Kannah and John Ebata who produced for one of the first original Canadian divas, Anne Murray. More recently, he met up and coming producer/sound engineer Simon Bader from Massive Sound Productions which proved to be a more than fruitful collaboration. Bader comes from a predominantly Metal, Rock and Drum & Bass background but this was used in combination with Szeto’s smooth voice and Reggae, Reggaeton and Hip Hop genres which he had never tried before. After getting his feet wet with these new and wonderful concepts, he decided to record a full length album which is due for release later in 2008. Szeto stands by his comment that ‘Music is universal. There is no colour, no race, no gender.’ With his dedicated attitude and sure-fire hits like ‘This Is Our Night’ accompanied by the Reggaeton flavoured remix and the feisty ‘Don’t You Dare’, Barry Szeto will soon be added to a long list of success stories in the music business and will be topping charts worldwide for years to come.
