DC HOLIDAY ‘09 LIFE COLLECTION – CEMENT PACK

Check out yet another amazing pair of kicks from DC’s Holiday ‘09 Life Collection – the CEMENT pack.

You’ll notice the funky print on the collar of the Sector 7 and the straps of the Admiral – those are meant to represent what cement ledges look like after they’ve been grinded on.

The incorporation of cement and concrete colors, a staple element in skateboarding, runs as a key design thematic in this unique and meaningful pair of kicks.

The classic wing tip toe also adds a touch of luxury to both shoes and is a detail I’m sure many sneakerheads will fall in love with.

A PERFECT EVENING

I had the honor of being part of one of the most lavish and beautiful wedding dinners I have ever been to last weekend.

Steve & Tracy’s wedding dinner was an immaculately conceived and executed event by which all Chinese wedding dinners in Malaysia should be measured.

The venue was grand (J.W. Marriot’s Grand Ballroom), the food was delicious (prepared meticulously by the Marriot’s head Chinese chef), the production values rivaled a mini concert (a massive LED panel plus motorized stage and more) and of course the music was super good (hehe)

Our good friend Kent directed and produced all the video clips for the evening, and they were amazing. Steve & Tracy had well-wishes (via video) from Hongkong superstars like Joey Yung, Grasshopper, Eric Kot and Jan Lamb which was a nice touch.

All in all, a perfect evening for the perfect couple.

Congratulations again to my good friends Steve & Tracy Ho!

DC X HOTEL ON RIVINGTON

You know, some jobs come with really good perks, and those perks make you wish you were part of that company, organization or corporation.

Well, upon receiving these photos, I really wish I worked at the award-winning Hotel on Rivington in New York.

DC has teamed up with the luxury boutique hotel to produce a pair of kicks exclusively for the hotel’s staff.

The words “HOTEL ON RIVINGTON” are laser-etched on the sole and the striking red ankle-strap reflects one of the key colors of the Hotel On Rivington.

The kicks perfectly match the staff’s uniforms which were designed by Ted Baker of London.

Now don’t you wish you worked there too?

STEVE & TRACY’S SOUNDTRACK

This weekend one of my best friends, Steve, is getting married to the girl of his dreams – Tracy.

Steve has always liked things that are unique and one-of-a-kind (i.e. his GTR had to be like no other GTR, Tracy’s Yaris had to be like no other Yaris, etc etc) so I was asked to design a one-of-a-kind soundtrack for the evening and I have been spending the last few days raiding my digital crates to come up with an eclectic but accessible playlist for the event.

I think I’ve managed to do that, but lets see what the guests think on Saturday night!

P.S. After the wedding dinner we’re all adjourning to The Loft KL for my Attack of the Killer DJ party so come and join us!

Hongkong-raised/Malaysia-based BadBoyBen is a DJ/Producer who is one of the most prominent faces on the South-East Asian clubbing circuit.

He’s already toured internationally and performed alongside a whole host of world-class artists and DJs such as - Craig David, Sven Vath (Cocoon), Chris Fortier (Fade, Bedrock) and many more.

Not content with just DJing, Ben made the leap into production in 2001 and formed Funkshoppe Records. Overseeing every aspect of the label from music production to graphic design to signing new talent, Ben quickly put Funkshoppe on the world map and established himself as one of the most influential people on the Malaysian dance music scene.

He was named Malaysia’s First Superstar DJ and one of Malaysia’s 17 Most Outstanding Individuals in 2005 by one of the country’s most-respected lifestyle guides - FACES Magazine.

Ben also hosted Malaysia’s biggest dance music show, MOVE, from 2003-2006 on 98.8FM, one of Malaysia’s largest radio stations with an audience in excess of 1.6 million listeners.

Making this transition from club DJ to radio personality has allowed Ben to reach an even greater audience and garner an even greater fan base. It would be a gross understatement to say that his influence reaches far beyond the four walls of any club.
