  • "Iconic Vision", A Photo Exhibition by DIOR X ALVIN GOH 5th of August @ Watermark

Yah, the big day is finally over and i can finally rest my mind a bit....working on this project for the past 2 months was an amazing experience.

I had collaborated with Wing Shya & Sean K on many international exhibitions but my role was just a supporting role in the make-up department. However for "Iconic Visions", it was clearly a make-up exhibition.

Combining my  background in fashion styling, i was the mastermind behind this project, from thinking of different concepts for all the artistes, lighting, hair, wardrobe(even had to tailor some outfits), styling and last but not least, the make-up.

I didnt realise it was so time consuming coz I was also at the same time 'producing' this event as I was the middleman between all the artistes and Dior so that means tons of phone calls just to organize 1 shoot.

I guess the difficult part was to combine the commercial aspect with my creative ideas to create a series of "commercial-friendly" pics yet creative and bold. I guess I had achieved this quite well.

Feedback was really good.......More than 400 guests filled up the Watermark restaurant at 7 Central Pier. It was really a good night, nothing went wrong and guests stayed till the wee hours despite a signal 3 typhoon.

Special thanks to soooo many people out there, especially Della/Dior, Walter/Rita/i-dna, Ming & Mike, Jeffrey,  Wing Shya & Sean K, Charles Leung, Angus Chan, Olaf Muller, Skye Tan and last but not least, the artistes themselves who had so much faith and confidence in me, namely Kit Chan, Hu Bing, Race & Rosy, Karena Lam, Mandy, Victoria, Ting Ting and Josie. You guys make a difference to my life!

So here it goes....the birth of the 8 images that took me 2 months to produce :

Gosh, its been ages since i am alive in this channel. I even had to beg Race to teach me how to use this!! I am totally a tech-idiot so i guess i need to practice more from here!!

Anyway I been super super super busy for the past 2 months, working non-stop and overseeing the entire production for my first solo beauty exhibition!

Its titled ICONIC VISIONS, A Photo Exhibition by Dior X Alvin Goh.

I was approached by Dior Parfums and they wanted me to create a series creative images in conjunction with their new mascarra launch. Initially they wanted me to just use 1 photographer and 1 model but i said "NO". I told them I would like to include 10 artistes and 4 photographers. In the end, we both compromised on 8 artistes and 5 photographers. And yes, Dior was very very kind enough to let me have the total creative freedom, from choosing my entire team(which includes photographer, artiste, hairstylist, etc).

I didnt realised it was soooooo much work to do! From the liasing to the co-ordination, it was work non-stop. Tons of phone calls, tons of research, tons of feedback from my industry friends, tons of preparation work, tons of late nights, media interviews,etc.....

2 months, i created a series of 8 images which will finally be unveiled next tuesday.

I look forward to having so much fun on that night, especially with all my good friends! :)

Finally after months of persuasion, i finally got my lazy ass to activate an account here. I'm such a tech-freak and I'm still trying to figure out how to use this site!!

haha...anyway in tribute to one of my favourite photographer and a loving friend, I had decided to post some of my favourite shoots with the late JC.  I first met JC when I first went to HK 3 years ago. I was introduced to him by Ah Nam. Soon after that, it was followed by a series of collaborations and eventually a friendship blossomed. JC is one of the most hardworking and kindest person i know in this industry. An industry where egos often crash, JC is so down-to-earth and real. His personality moved me.

I had the chance to work with JC on his last shoot, before he found out that he was diagnosed with cancer. Freakingly scary, he told me "this will be my last shoot" on the day of our shoot. Isnt that spooky...?  During his last days, I met up with JC several times. I remembered one particular session I had with JC, I revealed to JC how much his strong faith and support mean to me, and in that instance, his hand reached out for my hand and held me tightly saying "You are the best, Alvin, ..you are the best". Tears couldnt stop rolling down my cheeks upon hearing such touching words from a dying man.

So here you are, the last shoot I did with JC. I will post the rest of the shoots soon.
