Is has been a while since I update the blog, in fact I haven't been updating it since I've been back in Sydney.

It took a little bit of time to settle back in to Sydney life, looking for place to live and getting my name out there for some freelance gig.

I've did some freelance work while I was full-timing in Sydney before but this time is different… The pressure is ON this time, it was no longer just a way earn some extra cash but to pay some bills, which forces me to actively sending out my resume, reel and site to studio and recruitment agency. Surprisingly so far all gigs are from direct contacts from studio and of course some friends recommendations.

So far there are enough jobs keeping busy, roving around from studios to studios, trying to avoid unwanted free time gaps between bookings, cashing some studio to pay bills had proven harder then I thought but most studio are okay, I guess not knowing what happen next is the hard part so I still hunting for a good suitable full-time gig, but having said that I've bought the "Freelance design handbook" and "How to be a graphic designer without losing your soul" reading it from time to time so there maybe a chance that I will be freelancing for a while.

There are a upsides too apart from pay rate (if and when I get pay, actually I have just added up the amount that I have earn for the last 6 mounts is about the same of what I earn in LA, but as a freelancer I have had total 4 weeks off, holidays and free gaps ) Speaking of free times that is one of the best plus as a freelancer, as long as I know when my next gig is and the money that I've or will earn from gig will cover until then. Free time is great and heathy way for designer to grain a new skills and perspective ,as long as you are keeping yourself active which could be hard. Is always easier to be couch potato. Keeping your self busy is the key, doing your own projects going to art museum, doing tutorials, design books store, these are all the things I and I believe most of the working full time designers would wish they have time to do. Seeing how different studios operate were also eye opening as well, all studios have things to learn from, whether is file structures in the server, clients skills, seeing how they brand them self as a studio.

Well there are still an other couple of months to go, will have to wait and see If I can actually make a living as a freelancer.
