  • Spanks for All Your Birthday Wishes

    Saturday, Jun 13, 2009 3:37PM / Standard Entry

Well, it was that time of year again for me, and I'd like to thank all my family, friends, and fans for all their birthday wishes.  Another year has flown by, and I ain't certainly getting any younger.  However, I can always look back at some earlier versions of me to always put a smile back on my face.  Here's a shot of me from way back before I was racing around anywhere...

Yeah, I am sure those are real tears too cuz I don't think I could act...yet.  I am not sure why I was crying, but maybe it was because I was bummed out I couldn't look directly at the school photographer...

...I remember he said it's cuz the lenses from my coke bottles reflected too much of the flash.  Luckily, the camera is a lot more forgiving nowadays when you live a somewhat healthy life...and there's Adobe Photoshop to touch up anything (and everything!)

Now, I was thinking about getting a bunch of friends together once again for another "Birthday Bash" like last year, but I actually got tied up with work on my birthday for the third year in a row.  In fact, I spent all my birthday on a plane ride back to Singapore from London for an exciting new product that Samsung is planning to "unpack" in three different location at the same time:  Singapore, Dubai, and London.  And from what I've seen and heard, iPhone better watch out!
Since I wasn't able to get the crew together for another beat down, fellow AnD artist Jimmy T sent me this hilarious clip of what could've been.  Just watch Todd Bridges ("Willis" from Different Strokes) give a spank down on our favorite white rapper, Vanilla Ice!  Sorry...Eminem!!
    Enjoy!!

P.S.~I think Vanilla Ice would still spank Marshall Mather's butt though!  You??

  • So What's Up with TARA4??

    Wednesday, May 27, 2009 9:07AM / Standard Entry

Wow.  This year is flying by pretty fast, and a lot of people have been asking me what's going on with the fourth season of The Amazing Race Asia, aka TARA4?  Good question.
To answer that, some final "pieces" of this production jigsaw puzzle are in motion.  Now, it's just a matter of time before we get the final piece of news that TARA4 is either on or not.
And once everything is confirmed and official, I will be sure to let you all know first!
In the meantime, I caught up with some TARA2 alumni over the weekend, Marc and Rovilson from Team Philippines...

And of course, they insisted on taking a picture of them hollering "Base, Base" like they did throughout the race after each leg they won...

Hah!  Some things never change...which can be a great thing!
...maybe now might also be a good time to just start thinkin about who might be a good partner to race with YOU??

  • Fashion and Saving the Children

    Thursday, May 21, 2009 8:23PM / Standard Entry

Well, it looks the fashion industry is still Alive and Not Dead here in Singapore despite the so-called economic downturn.  Recently, I was invited to the new Just Cavalli store opening along with Pierre Png and Andrea De Cruz here with Team VGO...

With all the news of companies closing down and people getting laid off, the fashion industry seems to have weathered the storm with boutiques like this still opening up.  I even got a chance to give my "expert" opinion on how fashion trends are gonna veer towards this year...

...like I've ever been known to be a fashionista!!
I was also recently invited to Bulgari's new charity campaign for "Save the Children."  It's always nice to see luxury brands mobilize their efforts to give back to the less fortunate and underprivileged.  Here's a writeup on what the campaign is all about:

Bulgari has announced a campaign to support the "Rewrite the Future" campaign of Save the Children. Through the "Rewrite the Future" campaign Save the Children is committing to providing quality education to eight million children living in conflict-affected areas. Bulgari wants to raise 10 million euros by the end of 2009, of which one million euros will be donated by Bulgari in advance. Bulgari has created a silver ring for the campaign which features the Save the Children logo engraved inside. The ring will be on sale from February 1 to December 31, 2009 in all Bulgari stores throughout the world, in some selected department stores, and on Bulgari's e-commerce website
, $60 of which will be donated to the campaign.

Bulgari will also create a collection of 15 pieces of high jewelry and eight high-end timepieces, valued at three million euros. This collection will be officially presented on in June 2009 in Rome, on the occasion of Bulgari's retrospective exhibition "Between Eternity and History" to celebrate 125 years of the Bulgari brand. This collection of jewels and watches will be exhibited at various events throughout the year and the auctioned off on December 7, 2009 in New York and proceeds will be totally donated to Save the Children.

Some of the artists that attended the event include Li Lin, Irene Ang, Beatrice Chia, Denise Kellar, Rebecca Tan, and Jeanette Aw...

...even local celebrity hair stylist David Gan popped in to show his support...

Now, you're probably wondering what this ring looks like, huh?  I am not sure if it's for everyone, but you'll definitely know who forged this silver!

  • How Does this WannaBe Tarzan Stay in Shape in Bali?

    Friday, May 15, 2009 10:49PM / Standard Entry

First, here's some more leaping in keeping with my Tarzan tradition.  Watch out Below!!

    ...and where'd my shorts go??
Usually, going to exotic islands like Bali really gets me motivated to do absolutely nothing.  However, this is the exact opposite of how I felt this trip.  Normally when I'm overseas for projects such as films and The Amazing Race Asia, I am so uninspired to do anything.  In fact, I just tell myself to "write off" that period I'm traveling and then take care of business after I return.  I guess you can call it an "I.O.U" to whoop my own butt back to shape.
One thing that I've learned over and over again is that there are no short cuts and you don't get anything for free, especially when it comes to your body.  When I was young, it was easy to eat and drink all I wanted, but I think getting older makes all of us have to be more conscientious about how we take care of ourselves.  I used to be able to wolf down all sorts of food like it was going out of style.  Now, I try to watch what I eat more and how much I eat.  I don't think I am eating any smarter, but I do think I am getting "wiser" from all the good and bad experiences with overeating unhealthy foods.
Here in Asia, we're flooded with all these misleading advertisements from slimming centers and beauty spas.  According to them, you can just pay a chunk of money, go to their center, undergo some of their services such as body wraps, muscle stimulation machines, etc. and look slimmer.  I can't begin to tell you how much further that is from the truth.  In this day and age, anyone can look great in a picture with all the digital touch-ups the advertisers do now to deceive you.  That's why you usually never see them around...cuz you wouldn't recognize them!
So for now, I'll just say that there's no rocket science when it comes to losing weight and getting in shape...Just Eat Less and Work Out More.  Period.  With the constant barrage of health and fitness information from every direction and trajectory, it's easy to get confused and duped.  I like to use this simply as a reminder to work out.  We aren't reinventing the wheel here or anything so let's just get the original one rolling!
With all the demands are commitments in our so-called lives, it's easy to get distracted and forget about that workout you've been telling yourself to do all day, all week, or all last year.  Since I had a lot of down time in Bali, I promised myself I'd break a sweat a few times.

Starting with some simple stretching and jumping jacks to warm up...

...it's time to do some exercises that we all know and maybe don't love without having to go anywhere or pay someone.  I start off with pumping out a few sets of fifty pushups...

If standard pushups are too easy, then it's time to elevate your game...

These incline pushups are a lot harder, and I almost literally kissed the asphalt after I did about forty reps so be careful!
Fortunately, I had a tree nearby that was willing to lend its branch to me so it was time to be a Tarzan Temp again and do some pull ups...

I remember one time in my life I popped off forty pull ups in one set.  Now, I'm happy to heave myself up fifteen to twenty times.
Now, here's something I used to do after each water workout I did back when I was on the crew (rowing) team at CAL.  We called them "Maximums"--all you do is stand in one place and jump as high as you can for ten or more reps...

Of course, you gotta be prepared to push yourself and enjoy the burn, and you'll only take out what you put into your workout.  Again...NO rocket science involved.
Now that I've done some of the basic moves, it's time to elevate my workout--and anyone else who chooses--to the next level with a revolutionary new exercise resistance band called Loopz, which was designed and engineered by the talented and beautiful Wong Li Lin.

So what da Heck can I OR YOU do with it?

    We'll find out soon!!

  • What is Hell All About?

    Saturday, May 9, 2009 7:03PM / Standard Entry

One of my friends just sent me this hilarious piece on one bright college student's take on What is Hell All About!  Enjoy....

    HELL EXPLAINED BY CHEMISTRY STUDENT
The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington chemistry mid term.

The answer by one student was so "profound" that the professor shared it with colleagues, via the Internet, which is, of course, why we now have the pleasure of enjoying it as well :

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)?
Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant.

One student, however, wrote the following:

First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there is more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially. Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand proportionately as souls are added.

    This gives two possibilities:
    1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

    2. If Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

    So which is it?
If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa during my Freshman year that, "It will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you," and take into account the fact that I slept with her last night, then number two must be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and has already frozen over. The corollary of this theory is that since Hell has frozen over, it follows that it is not accepting any more souls and is therefore, extinct......leaving only Heaven, thereby proving the existence of a divine being which explains why, last night, Teresa kept shouting "Oh my God."

THIS STUDENT RECEIVED AN 'A '

    ...Hell Ya!!
