i can't recall when it began snowing
when this bleak whiteness overflowed
i closed my eyes and tried to dream
of that place i used to know
i watched spring arrive for everybody else
i waited for the snow to melt for me too
i longed for the bright world they perceived
yet the colors only faded
the world around me rejoiced in laughter
but in my heart it only snowed harder
i've long grown numb to its coldness
and come to accept this emptiness
i can't recall when i stopped feeling
happiness and warmth have trailed faraway
at least now i can't feel the cold snow
but in its eternal presence, i realized
spring will never come.
