Time's a tickin'...

My countdown has officially begun as it is less than a month that I will be 22,000 feet in the air and on my way back to better part of North America...

I've been here for several months now and it has definitely been worth my while although I haven't been able to accomplish exactly what I wanted to do when i first set foot on this land, I still feel optimistic about my direction.

Buck Wild is still what it is, an indie film that is still up for sale...my festival runs will begin shortly after my return to Toronto so hopefully from what I've been fortunate enough to learn during my stay will benefit my film in the not too distant future.  I do see a lot of opportunities for me to grow here in this market and I'm not ruling out coming back to grasp them.

Some of the people I have met have been very encouraging and with this site, I do feel confident that i can continue to forge the relationships necessary to build a foundation to come back to and work with in the future.

I've yet to put my documentary together and hopefully it won't take me too long to get 'er done but my daily logs of my time spent here in HK will serve me well as it will allow me to realize the trials and tribulations I have experienced from a different perspective.  I set out a few goals for my visit and have accomplished a couple and being able to document each day that has passed has been therapeutic in realizing not everything goes the way you want it to.

We all know hindsight is 20/20, and with these tapes I have, it will give me a full view of my maturation as a professional filmmaker.  People have called me courageous in risking my time and money on a dream that is so distant it makes the Great Wall look like a walk in the park.  I don't feel that way, I've just been fortunate enough to have a family that supports me and friends that encourage me.  It doesn't take courage to reach for what you want, it takes initiative...

Not many people I've met would dare to chase their dreams and do what they would love to do and due in large to certain circumstances in everyday life, several talented people lose that urge and motivation to at the very least, try and reach out for what they want in life.  These people do what they need to do to survive or to support their family and they are all just as courageous as the heroes in our societies, respectively.  The sacrifices that they are willing to accept will see them flourish in the future as i hope mine will.  I look to them for inspiration to live a fuller life.

There is one myth that goes around and really puts a damper on others' lives.  It doesn't matter what age, race, sex you are, or what family you come from, or what it says in your past, we live in a world that used to rely on messengers to ride on horses, ships, carriages, to get a letter to the other side of the world six months later to set a date to have dinner, six months after receiving it.  Someone had to dream for us to progress to where we are now.

You are never too old or too young to dream and no one should ever have the right to take your right to live it.  There are NO over-night celebrities, each and every artist, politician, athlete, and any other public figure has worked their tails off in one way or the other to get to where they are, you are no different...you just have to start with a dream and make it a reality by taking the steps and making the sacrifices you are willing to accept...

Everybody who have grown to who they are will tell their kids that life doesn't get any easier when you grow old and while that's true, what they fail to tell the kids is that life can get better, a helluva lot better...if you just work at it...

Time's a tickin' on this Lo-Life and I intend on fulfilling as much of my dream as I can, whether it's here or there, it's going to happen.

Don't get caught between pride and promise...

Peace,

One day soon it will all happen. I admire your abilities to go out into the world and try to make it happen everyday. Life is not always how we wish it to be, but to know you can change it one step at a time... means better rewards when you finially reach your goals.. BTW very nice poem!
