Day 4 was just mom and her friend wandering around downtown and buying more food. They made us another delicious dinner with soups.... hehe~Day 5 was Friday. I had early morning call and work but was still able to stay home. I invited mom and her friend to our rooftop swimming pool (not actually rooftop, but on the 8th floor outside from the clubhouse). I forgot to bring with me my goggles, so i had to swim with my eyes shut... Mom was a great athlete, competing in provincial swimming team and basketball team and was also in the dance team. I have not inherited her athletic genes at all, so i can barely swim in the one and only style i know, not like my mom who could compete in all 4 swim styles. After 30min of swimming, i already got tired... So we
hanged out at the jacuzzi by the pool for another 30min... got SO TANNED!!
At night we went to
Spiaggiafor dinner... http://www.levyrestaurants.com/Levy/DiningExperiences/Restaurants/Group2/Spiaggia.htm
It is supposed to be the best Italian restaurant in Chicago, so we gave it a try. We did not order much as mom and her friend usually eat little and we had to leave ASAP for the Dark Knight.
The olive oil rows (the round ones) were tasty~
This candle was very pretty... i liked it a lot~
The tuna and the rabbit sausage were quite good~
This snails pasta was very very delicious... I particularly liked the crunchy stuffs they put inside, reminded me once WHH crunched potato chips and mixed in my pasta that was so unique~
The risotto was a bit too thick for my mom...
This monkfish cheeks dish was my FAVORITE!! The texture was so good and it was cooked just right... so juicy! Even the broccolis were done perfectly~~
The rack of lamb + lamb belly was not unique, but it was tasty and the meat was of the right texture and heat.
We did not have time to order desserts, so we only ate the complimentary sweets they gave us and they were all different and great
While eating, we saw some weird-looking tourists downstairs...
We also took some pics~
We then took a cab and rushed to the theater for WHH's company's private screening of the
Dark Knight while tons of people were lining up outside! The theater was very full so we had to sit separately, with me and mom together.
The movie was so great! I admit that it is a very dark movie, but this is not a for-kids movie. This is supposed to be an action movie that is about fighting crime, and that along already guarantees it to be at least PG-13! It was as intense as a movie could ever be, just
like the original "Infernal Affairs" movie plus loads of explosions and HL's "insane" portrayal of the Joker. It is a pity that HL died so young, because he was excellent in the Dark Knight, totally stole the show! CB's performance was definitely compared down by HL's, but it was very exciting to watch the mad competitions between Batman and the Joker. And yes this interpretation of Batman is much more intriguing as we see him more as a human and we see why he's spending so much time and money on "fighting crime", that he is mad, and i see him as the janitor of Gotham City. And the movie was obviously shot in Chicago...
hehe~ and Edison Chen appeared for half a second in the movie but he was blurred.
After the movie ended, everyone clapped. WHH and i were very excited so we chose to walk back home. Maybe we'll go see the Dark Knight in IMAX?
