  • More bookstore goodness...

    Thursday, Jan 15, 2009 11:09AM / Standard Entry

I decided to take a nice nap after work today. Just as I was drifting off into dreamland my room mate knocked on my door asking if I could move my car. I stumbled out into the cold and reparked the car then walked back in splashed some water on my face to wake myself up (shoulda done that before moving the car) and then I decided...forget the nap. I want to go to Half Price Books. So that I did...and should I have decided to stay home I would still be $47 richer. But oh well, I got some nifty books. Unfortunately they are almost all art books so they don't offer me hours of reading enjoyment but for the price I got a pretty good lot.

I picked up a copy of Jeremyville's "Sessions" book that I've been eyeballing on numerous trips but finally talked myself into buying. I was super stoked to find Andy Howell's "Art, Skateboarding & Life" which is a truly cool book. I also got a graf/illustration book entitled "Black Ink" and I rounded out the lot with Lonely Planet's Hong Kong Encounter guidebook because hey, I may manage to get around to leaving the US sometime, but I daren't hold my breath. Unfortunately without the nap my eyes are feeling weary now so I probably won't get to give the books the proper attention tonight. But I am sure they will be waiting patiently for me when I get home tomorrow.

  • Help???

    Tuesday, Jan 13, 2009 12:04PM / Standard Entry

If any graphic designers/artists stumble across my page in the next few hours...or days and have a little time for a side job PLEASE hit me up. I'm in dire need of a logo design. I kinda have the concept but I suck at that sort of thing so looking for someone handy with illustrator or whatever to turn my idea into the real deal...or design something new that blows me away. I work a shitty job that barely keeps the bills paid but I can scrape together something for payment if we can agree upon something. Just let me know!

  • Holiday Madness

    Saturday, Jan 3, 2009 2:20PM / Standard Entry

Thank God the holidays are over! Oh, and Happy New Year to everyone! LOL

I had to work Christmas eve but thankfully we closed the store at 6:00. So after work I went to my friends' house since they are gracious enough to dog sit for me and hung out for a few, picked up my dog and headed home. Once home I packed, showered, got in the car with the dog and drove about five hours to Monroe, Louisiana. I got there around 2AM exhausted after a long freaking day. I ate the sandwich I brought with me, watched a bit of tv and by 3AM I was out cold. At 8AM I woke up to my mom calling my phone to tell me I better hit the road if I wanted to be at their house in Mississippi for noon. So I hopped out of bed and started driving again. Three hours later I was at my parent's house in time to share a Christmas Day lunch with my mom, dad, grandmother, aunt and uncle. It was nice to see everyone. After lunch we got in my mom's van and drove to New Orleans....my first time back in about three years. We stayed at my grandfather's house and my aunt and uncle along with their daughter popped in for some ham sandwiches. We spent the night there then drove back to Mississippi the following day. We relaxed around the house for the evening and after a good night's sleep I drove back to Texas the following day. Thankfully I didn't have to work Sunday so I got to rest and recover a bit from all of the time in transit.

After a solid workweek came New Years...again I worked New Years Eve before getting off and going to bring in the New Years at my friends' place. We had cheap champagne and watched the ball drop in Times Square on tv....an uneventful start of a new year.

  • Opinions please!

Okay, getting close to launch time for fartdust.com now and I was tinkering with the logo idea. Keep in mind this is a rough draft...I still need to find a graphic artist to properly render the concept. The first one is my initial idea and the one in use currently. The second...well it just sorta came to me last night and I'm not sure if it's a bit too much. Thoughts?

  • So how about those Cowboys?

    Monday, Dec 22, 2008 12:36PM / Standard Entry

Okay, I'm sooo not a sports fan/follower but I decided to root for the home team and watch the Dallas Cowboys game last night. Wow. I was super embarrassed for them. It was the last game in their current stadium and they fell apart. It was painful to watch. Nuff said.

In other news my new cute little doggie has the stinkiest farts known to man. Good grief, the little guy is on the floor snoring away and a stench is still permeating the room. Totally silent but deadly...it just creeps up on you. I'm just pecking away at the keyboard and bam...suckerpunched in the nose by rotten asshole smell. Ugh.
