Announcement

  • Hello All! I am discontinuing use of this profile and switching to a new one. This is because I would like to link my new little arts company to my blog and would like to stop being under an alias and use my real name. Too bad there's not a way to easily switch profile names! Please find my current blog under the username SarahArentz. I hope to talk to you soon!

    Hello Everyone!
As I posted above, I am beginning to write a new blog under my real name SarahArentz. This is because I am linking my new company website to the blog. I'm really excited to be starting my little arts venture! Check out the website if you are interested! www.lupinestudios.com I would like to become an official artist on AliveNotDead and am looking for an official artist to support me! I live in Denver, CO USA so I know I'm probably not in close proximity to any official artists on this site. However if you know anyone, or if you are an official artist and like my work please let me know so we can talk! I hope you are all well and had a great New Year! Keep in touch!
    ~Sarah

    Hello,

Just wanted to pass on this article. I have been hearing/reading about all the horrible things happening in Haiti after the earthquake took down Port-au-Prince, and I am happy to pass on one of the more positive stories surrounding it. It is amazing for Senegal to make this offer of permanent acceptance to the people of Haiti. :) I truly hope that this offer helps some of those Haitian families in need. I love to see these glimmers of open arms acceptance between countries. If only these sentiments will spread more and more over time.

Some commentary from Onye Ozuzu (one of my dance teachers at CU - I have always valued and respected her wisdom and thoughts):
"I think that this offer is important...spiritually, historically, for an African leader to stand up and claim Haitians as family, in a way that is quintessentially African....that offers to share whatever little there is, simply because of the ancestral dictate to do so. I remember many times in Dakar when someone gave... me half of their last...It reminds us all that Haitians did not get on that island of their own will, that they did not become the "poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere." purely because of their own choices, and that they come from somewhere, as a friend of mine said today....that their "history did not begin with slavery"."

With prayers for those in Haiti,
    ~Sarah

  • Peace and Justice

    Tuesday, Sep 8, 2009 10:47PM / Standard Entry

Alright, today I have strange questions for everyone. My husband had randomly been asking people that if they could choose one would they choose peace or justice? The answers he was getting were surprising to me, so I'd like to get some more data :)

SO questions # 1: If you could have one, would you choose peace or justice?

Then we started talking about what justice really means. We started thinking that alot of times people think of it almost in the same terms as revenge, but the two (I think) are very different.

question #2: In what way do you differentiate justice and revenge?

I'll post my own answers to these as well in a day or two but I'm curious what others think :) Let me know!

I hope everyone is doing well! I'm sorry I have been mostly absent for the last while. I always have chunks of time where I am busy and mostly just work and sleep. I certainly could use some more time to relax!!!

Well have a good day!!! Take care!

  • Summer is almost over ~

    Wednesday, Aug 12, 2009 12:46PM / Standard Entry

    Hello!

Time has been flying by this summer! I can hardly believe the schools are starting up again next week. My husband is finishing up his degree now that I have finished mine and I am nervous cause I need to make enough money to pay rent while he studies. Wish me luck! I keep looking for full time work, but it has been elusive and frustrating. I have turned in soooo many applications. Every time you go to an interview you find out that there are around 100 other applicants. It's severe. Everyone is looking for work it seems.
Because of this, I am very blessed to be working at a small winery. For the last couple months I have been working part time there, but just the other day the husband and wife who own the winery gave me a raise and full time hours! I am so thankful to them! I can stop being so scared now and at least take my time in finding a steady job.
As for the arts, I am currently trying to get a website up and running. I need lots of help from my husband for this because I'm not so good at programming! I will let you know when I get it finished...or at least in the works. Right now it's just a blank page. hmmm...
Mostly I am sleepy right now and can't remember if I have anything else to report. I will try to write some more later, but I at least wanted to drop a note here since I have been away for a while. :)
Also, ...Thank you for the birthday wishes! I got them a little late because I went camping on my birthday! I went out into the mountains to a town called Ouray with my husband. My special treat was to go on a horseback ride. It was a beautiful ride with wonderful views of the mountains! :) It was a very happy birthday :D
I hope every one is well and have a wonderful night!

In May my husband and I moved out to Grand Junction, CO which is on the other side of the mountains from Boulder where we were living before. Ever since we moved out here it has been raining a lot, which I love (it keeps the weather from getting too hot) but everyone says it's not usually like this out here. Hahaha, I'm okay with it though :)
I'm looking for full time work right now, which is proving kind of challenging at the moment. *cross your fingers for me that I can find something soon! *  I need to help pay for Sean to finish his college degree along with rent and all that. Right now I'm just doing some part time work in a winery. I work in the tasting room, pouring drinks for guests. It's a pretty nice job, and it's certainly the prettiest view I've ever had from work before!
I snapped some pictures when I was leaving work the other day, just before a downpour.   :) The clouds were awesome above the vineyards!

by the way, if anyone knows how to rotate a picture on here please let me know so I can fix it!! On my computer all these pictures were righted and they only flipped when I uploaded them ;_; sad days. very frustrating! Anyways, have a good day! Hope you like the pics even though they are very very sideways!
