On my short trip to Ho Chi Minh city I managed to stumble into some surprisingly decent restaurants. Dau Homemade is a chain, and the first Vietnamese meal I had this trip. ☝?- a vegan platter (you can get larger portions with meat) which has steamed vermicelli, fried tofu (YUM), cucumbers, and herbs. They give you a bowl with shrimp paste + fish sauce (stinky and I love it), and you add sugar, lime, and chillis to flavour. The tofu + dip combo is like HK-style stinky tofu! ✌?- um. Stumbled into a local pho place where we were told they only had beef pho (works for me), and that it comes in two sizes. The rain poured and blew inside. Quick snaps of some #Vietnamese snacks I had here: 1) roadside “Vietnamese pizza” - a lady dressed like a chef (tourist trap but worth it) made these with crispy rice sheets topped with cabbage, dried shrimp, minced pork on a charcoal grill (option to add cheese and quail eggs) 2 & 3) navigated through the indoor #bentanhmarket where ladies fought over each other for business and stressed me out immensely.
