I just might as well say I hate Chinese people trying to be Korean. I
hate Korean people acting White. I hate Japanese acting Korean. I hate
White acting Black. I hate Blacks acting White.
The truth is,
Asians in America don't have a particular "style" that makes them
"Asian". (Well, not if you count the stereotypes like high
intelligence, orchestra nerd, bookworm, or martial arts person). Unless
you don't follow, it is like saying Whites in America have a lifestyle
that makes them white, which is mostly redneck features, businessmen,
Californian boy and girl, or anything else that is "White". This brings
up the phrase that is common amongst many minorities like "whitewashed".
And
Blacks have a lifestyle that distinguishes them from being freestyle,
hiphop, soul, r&b, gospel, and many other things that make them
black. Asians have yet to discover their identity and to have a
particular "style" that seperates them from other races. It's hard
because everyone prevents it them from finding their own identity.
Identity in this country is hard to find because of so many cultures
and races.
So if you came up to me, and said, "Stop acting black."
I would reply, "How the f*ck do I act Asian?
