  • Another Earthquake in China

So, apparently there was another earthquake in China. This one hit Yunnan province in the southwest. I'm in China, and I never heard the news. Then again, I really don't pay much attention to anything recently. I only just recently heard about all the Uighers in Xinjiang killing all the Han Chinese and the Han's trying to get revenge. I can scratch that off my list of places I wanna visit. Anyways, no one was reported killed in the earthquake or the 8 aftershocks. Here is the article I found online for it.

An earthquake rocked tonight, causing  at least 10,000 homes to collapse and injuring more than 300 people.

The quake, measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, hit Yunnan province's Yao'an county in the south west of the country.

It was was followed by eight aftershocks.

So far there have been no reports of deaths.

But Chinese official state media said that at least 336 people were injured, with 30 cases serious.

More than 40,000 houses were damaged by the tremor – of which a quarter collapsed.

State officials said they were sending 4,500 tents, 3,000 quilts and other relief materials to Yao'an.

And hundreds of extra police have been dispatched to the disaster zone, a quake-prone, mountainous region that lies on China's southern border with and .

It also borders Sichuan province, where a magnitude-7.9 quake last year left almost 90,000 people dead or missing.

In 1988, a 7.1-magnitude quake in Yunnan killed more than 930 people.

More than 15,000 people died after a magnitude-7.7 earthquake in the province in 1970.

But authorities at the time covered up information on casualties and damage amid the chaos of the Cultural Revolution.

I heard about both things in the news. The unrest is quite a big topic here....
