Leslie Cheung Remembered in Blue-Ray

Fans of Leslie Cheung will soon be able to recapture the late star's old-day glamour in the best view through a high-definition DVD version of Cheung's 1984 romance feature "Behind the Yellow Line." Hong Kong entertainment company Celestial Pictures will re-release "Behind the Yellow Line" in blue-ray, a high-density disc format on April 1 to mark the fifth anniversary of Cheung's death.

In 2003 shortly after Cheung's shocking suicide, Celestial Pictures released the film in regular DVD format, which was an instant sold-out item. The new blue-ray version will be Celestial Pictures' first attempt for high-definition format. "Behind the Yellow Line," directed by Taylor Wong Tai-Loi, centers around a love triangle and marks the first collaboration between Leslie Cheung and Maggie Cheung. It also features an unseasoned Anita Mui, who won the Hong Kong Film Awards Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the film.

Why this film?  It is hardly a great film nor one of Leslie's best by any measure.  I would much rather see Rouge or A Chinese Ghost Story come out on Blu-Ray, not to mention some of his lesser known films from the 80s like Nomad (in a real director's cut) or Energetic 21.
