Behind The Scenes Of Silent Movies

Its been great, the film has been developed and we will be going into telecine tomorrow ( basically transferring the film into a video format so we can edit)

I msut say I am pretty excited about seeing it come together really.

This is one of those things when you know in your bones that it was a great shoot and you just can;t wait to see the end result.

In the meantime, here are some more intimate look at our filming process, all pictures courtesy of Jason Tan Yan Soon, a good friend and fantastic crew boy on set.

This is Charmaine, a dancer who is playing the female lead who finds out that someone is across the wall and she tries to speak in the only language she knows.. dance. some moments here:

Of course at some point, I needed to craft human moments after using such form and style devices. Here, a still shot of her playing out a quiet moment.

Then there is Farid, the male lead who communicates using hand shadows. I met Farid when he acted in a play by close buddy Tan Kheng Hua. Now Kheng is a fantastic woman who just gets the best picks in town when it comes to new talents. But thanks to her, I found Farid, an incredible talent of great energy. I love his work.
this is part of the climax scene where I go through with Farid about how I would like him to play his part. Also , very indie concerns about what's left of our film stock given our tight budgets =p

look out for this chap man, he is going to be in a lot more productions from what I hear.

Kenny is the seer of the collective known as The Enigmatic Army, a group of musicians, writers, producers and directors who believe in expressing themselves without having to bend over to commercial pressures and clique-ish posing.

Kenny leads with his boots dirty as he is an avid film maker, musician and photographer who mixes mediums and narrative styles all the time.

Having been trained in theatre at an early age, Kenny rejected the notion of fictional story telling in favour of documentary styled reflections and subtleties. His frustrations with the fixed norms of film and television making have also made him take the step to cross mediums whenever he can no matter how unpopular it may prove.

Kenny’s past credits include jury honours and screenings at the Sidewalk Cinema (Vienna), Singapore International Film Festival, Creative Circle Awards, SFX Radio Art (Seoul) as well as awards and accolades at the Asian Television Awards for his professional work in television.

As chief creative of The Enigmatic Army, Kenny has also been responsible for the direction of the artwork, music and supporting media for 4 full length album releases including "Kid Without Candy" by ambient folk musicians, Sajid & The Lost Boys from New Delhi, India.

By day, Kenny works as a senior producer at a Singaporean production house, conceptualizing and directing non-fictional content that can be watched on AXN, Animax, Disney Channel, Channel News Asia, Mediacorp among others.
