  • 銀川冰溝拍攝

    Monday, Aug 31, 2009 3:03AM / Members only

This is the first time I go to 銀川 to shoot movie. Everything seems so exciting to me. When we arrive, I met Director Lee Lik Chee, he just finished his role and ready to fly away. So we took a photo together before he left.

The location is in a desert, for the three days shooting which I've involved. All are day scenes with group of horse riding. The sands go everywhere....full of dust....

I use sun oil to protect the skin, cos I heard that this place has a high reading of UV light... which is the highest UV area in China... so I bring oil everyday on location...

Most of the time, I setup the Steadicam on the pick-up car. We mainly shot the scene of the horse running.... the dust go everywhere....After everyday shooting, I found myself is in brown color. All my equipments are full of sands, also my whole body is full of sands....it's very horrible...

The last shot I did here is an arrow shot, the arrow's POV pointing at the actor... this is a interesting movie, I hope can watch it soon...
  • RED on steadicam 2-Jun-2009

    Thursday, Jun 4, 2009 2:49PM / Members only

It was a overnight shooting for a MV which shot with a RED ONE camera. Originally planned for 13 steadicam shots within 7 hours, it seems impossible......

Finally we shot 10 steadicam shots within the time. I finished at 4:00am on location, they have no more money to pay my OT, then cut the steadicam even the director very want to keep me, but the producer very insist to control the budget..@_@..

It was a quite tired day, all the way steadicam, low mode and normal mode...

I used the Redbytes Down converter for the HDSDI to Composite.
A full day shoot with 6 shots in total. Easy job.

  • TVC Shoot in Shenzhen, 20th May 2009

    Friday, May 22, 2009 4:00AM / Members only

Here is the studio without air conditioner....too bad

This time I use RED camera again, the Shenzhen Fixer told me this one is the last camera that can be found in Shenzhen.
Because of the budget, I cannot use my own focus puller and gaffer. They got the crews from Shenzhen....but the result is, I almost do everything. The so called "focus puller" always stand beside and watching. I do all the focus by myself, even on a tracking shot.... so horrible....
Gaffer never has his idea for how to light, and those guys working very slowly, inexperience....I need to tell them how to setup even a poly board, the lights, etc...
It was a hard day, I think I loss 2 lbs in weight...

  • Macau Movie Shoot

    Wednesday, Apr 29, 2009 4:08PM / Members only

Last weekend, I went to Macau with my assistant, for a China movie shoot. It was a rainy night, everything become difficult.
Firstly, I was wearing my steadicam rig with their 535B. It was a shot walking backward for about 2-3 mins long.

in the setup, we use the 535B body, plus the original eyepiece withe video assists (I got the video top but their recording system not support the NTSC signal), and the lightweight magazine. I adjust my arm to its upper limit, 63lbs, everything seems ok, haha. We just have one lightweight mag, so sometimes need to change back to the normal mag....It is damn heavy when having the normal mag. it's over 70lbs already.... I calculate the total weight (include vest and arm) is about 90 lbs when carry on my body....

It was a very slowly walking backward downslope shot about one feet per second. I can feel that my leg losing energy very fast....OMG....
after a few tries, I decide to plug my arm onto the fisher in order to perform the shot. It's more practical and safety.

Finally we did the job and everything seems alright, haha

HIHI, nice to met you,
