Hey, thanks for the ref to the Leslie Cheung article. It was posted on a Leslie fan site I frequent the very day it was posted on Asia Variety. It was a nice tribute. Good to see that Leslie is still remembered outside of Asia (even if only for a few films).
I've been watching the initial reviews for Ashes of Time Redux out of Cannes and, with the exception of the curmudgeon at Variety (who doesn't seem to like Asian films in recent years, what's up with that???), most reviews seem positive. I have to say I'm excited that the music was updated. If there was any really weak link in the original Ashes, it was the cheesy 70s style spaghetti-Western synth soundtrack. Where was Chris Babida when Wong Kar Wei needed him? Chris' synth soundtrack for Phantom Lover (dir. Ronnie Yu) is on the opposite end of the spectrum and shows you just how good such soundtracks can get. Now, with the addition of Yo-Yo Ma, Ashes Redux' will have plenty of aural gravitas to match the rest of the film.
Ohh boy. I've just placed an order for Ashes of Time and Shadowless Sword. haha. Kaijushakedown is on my blogroll but I don't get to it as often as I should...which might be a good thing. ;D
I already tried podcasts and such stuff..that method doesnt work for me, I need proper classes and primal survival in a only-chinese place ^^U
And I cant watch any mandarin dubbing, man they suck XD
What did you f&cksh*t about today? haha.
Actually, I can get through many days without any use of profanity. Bozos on the road must be taken in stride.... Not worth bursting a blood vessel or raising the ol blood pressure about. Right?
Aren't u done eating that ball on a stick yet? I've never had one of those whenever I visited HK. All I remember is starving and then eating big meals.
