quickie blog

I have been away for a board meeting this weekend, so I have fallen behind with my feeds.  I will catch up hopefully tonight after Kapa haka.

Im teaching today and already my throat is sore - from yelling and its only lunch time.  I don't yell at the girls, I yell with them, I am teaching them how to.  Some of them get so excited when they learn they are allowed to yell as loud as possible.  I love speaking to them softly and quietly,...Read more

halloween and picky eaters

Well its halloween and I finally got it together this year and bought some lollies for trick or treaters and none have come (typical, they only turn up when I am unprepared).  Never mind I get to eat the lollies     Halloween is not really celebrated here but in recent years retailers have pushed to try and make it so.

Well I just had my 2501st  visitor, I think it was HuisyG - hey Gina, how about a lunch date  .  Okay, most of you know...Read more

unrequited love bloody sucks

but I'm sure you all know that...

peachey  just did a lovely blog on being a go-getter and getting Mr P.  She commented that we should all blog about how we meet our husbands.  I am not, nor have ever been, married, I was a single parent right from the start (it had ended with my daughters father before I knew I was pregnant).  So I thought I would blog about a lovely man that I had the misfortune of falling in unrequited love with.

This happen...Read more

A Polyneasian Island Nation

Polyneasian Island Nation are not often words that you hear being used to describe NZ, but that's exactly what it is.

The other day Sandy blogged (  http://www.alivenotdead.com/35930/viewspace_45461.html ) about her language - Nahuatl, the most ancient of the 64 Mexican dialects.  She also mentioned Raramuris,an amazing place close to where she lives, I googled it and found -Read more

funny commercials and being bald

Thank all so much for your kind advice.  I have decided * gulp* that I am going to go ahead with the fundraising thing.  I just need to wait for confirmation as to whether or not one of the local radio stations is organising the local event this year and I can just participate or I have to organise the who...Read more

shave a lid for a kid

Every year in NZ (since 2003), there is a fun raising event for The Child Cancer Foundation.  Basically you shave off all year hair and raise funds and awareness for childrens cancer.

This year the event is held on 7th December.  I would like do this but basically I am scared.  I think it is a good way of not only raising funds and awareness but also of showing solidarity and support by going bald too.  Obviously going bald is a bigger sacrifice to some of us than others.

I am scared for good reasons and irrational reaso...Read more

I was just watching the video in Patick's latest blog and noticed there was a Tretchikoff on the wall of the flat in the video. I have a Tretchikoff so I thought I would do a little blog on him. This from Wikipedia:

Vladimir Tretchikoff (Владимир Григорьевич Третчиков) (born 13 December 1913 in Petropavlovsk, Russia, now in Kazakhstan; died 26 August 2006 in Cape Town, South Africa) was one of the most commercially successful artists of all time - his painting Chinese Girl (popularly known as "The Green L...Read more

I was reading w-bird's blog on her feature and the movie The Princess Bride, one of my all time faves.
