sweet sixteen

sometime ago I blogged I was letting my girl get a tattoo, well it appears that person wouldn't do it because the law here is 16 (she was 15 then), some councils have bylaws which state 18 and many tattoo parlours adhere to a code of ethics where they won't tattoo anyone under 18 without parental permission.  So she had to wait.  Well a few weeks ago she turned 16, the tattoo parlour wouldn't unless she brought me down to speak to them (all good) and yesterday she got her tattoo...

  the outline  adding colour  fin

somebody once told me that NZ has the highest percentage per capita of tattooed peops in the world, I can't confirm whether this is true or not but I did find some interesting tattoos when I was trying to find out...

The woman who tattooed K was covered in them, cept for her face.  I can't say it's my thing but whatever gets people through the night....  Watching the woman do her work I couldn't help but admire her steady hand and I got a new appreciation of tattooists as artists.

This came out nice. And the design isn't something that she'll come to regret years down the line. K must be so happy now :) I don't think that law is a bad thing cause if they really want one then they'll be willing to wait for it.

I agree about the law, I don't think waiting is bad either, K has been talking about getting one since she was 12 - there was no way I was agreeing even if it had been legal. I like the voluntary code of ethics too.

I can see how NZ would have more tatooed people if you count that Maori. The law is a good thing especially for the fickled tendencies of teens. I'm glad it's a flower and nothing she'd regret when she's an adult or one a 60 year old would try to hide. Don't forget to tell her.. NO NAMES!

Not really something I'd wanna get done. Though I think that everyone in the same place like their hip or something that you can conceal easily, their blood type tattooed onto them from birth. It'd save a hellava lot of trouble for ambos and hospital staff if a blood transfusion was needed it'd be one lest test for them.

oh,different place has different culture~.its interesting.coz if its in japan, having a tatoo is very very special.its kind of something not very "good"...so the place like hot spring or public pool don't allow letting people in if they have a tatoo on.its true~very different huh~:P

Nice tattoo! How long did it take? Usually people would go in and just have the outline then a new day have it colored. Are you thinking of getting one yourself??

yes what you've checked on google is what I said ↓under here.some young people adore to be wild(this reason is the most popular here I guess) that have tatoo on,then.. when they get older being adult finally realize that it would cause a problem in everyday life...try to erase it which cost and pain more than having it.um...yea actually if your daughter look like japanese, she would be banned for public pool/hot spring here.but I guess for foreigner(she looks like foreigner right?),the rule can be work differently.

oh that's a lovely rose, I do admire tattooists, skin is such a hard canvas, it's good that they have the law of no tattoos under 16, gives the young person a chance to be sure before getting inked. You're such a good mum.
