    The rules:

    1) Copy this list into your blog, including these instructions.
    2) Bold all the items you’ve eaten.
    3)
Cross out or underline any items that you would never consider eating.
    4) Post a comment here notifying us of your posting of this meme at your profile.

Like Flagday, I have somethings to say so what's in the brackets is mine, like others I don't know what a lot of it is and found it a bit American - not all of us know automatically that PB & J is peanut butter and jelly and some of us call it jam.  Don't even get me started on calling Devonshire tea clotted cream tea, that makes it sound as if clotted cream is in the tea (ewwww).

With that in mind, here goes with regards to The Omnivore’s Hundred:

    1. Venison
    2. Nettle tea (this is really good for you)

  • marrying the devil

    Thursday, Oct 2, 2008 1:32PM / Standard Entry

I had the strangest dream the other night....

I dreamt that the dude who played Greg in Dharma and Greg was the devil and I was his maid  he was kind to me though and I fancied him  and we were going to get married.  I mean WTF I was going to marry the devil?!?!.  Yikes

Anyhu I'm tired of my profile pic but for some reason I can't change it (yes I check that the photo is in the right format).  I select the new photo and then nothing happens.  Oh well, I was in a silly mood and was going to upload a photoshopped me as Wonder Woman (I was overweight when the photo was taken and even though it is just my face it looks ridiculous  hehe)

what is going on - I was going to blog further about the two photos shown but changed my mind and tried to delete them - they don't show in my draft blog but keep showing up when published.  arggggghhhhh

  • .......... mobile broadband WOOT

    Wednesday, Oct 1, 2008 10:57AM / Standard Entry

yep I've been offline for nearly two weeks now, man I was having terrible withdrawls.  I have been staying in my mum's cottage getting it ready for new tenants.  The cottage was hit by a drunk driver and it took out the front of it (this happened when I was in Korea).  Thankfully insurance covered (expensive 21st for the driver) all the repairs.

I have been ripping up carpet and painting (the undamaged bits) and cleaning etc

Of course there is no phone or internet here but as of today I have mobile broadband.  Yeehaaa!!!  Yipee Kaiyay

I have gone through some feeds but probably wont get to the all as there are quite a few.   I hope you are all well.

Here are some photos of the cottage (it is a cute 1870s cottage, consisting of two working mens cottages joined together).  It is also an ice box brrrr, thank god spring is here.    it looks nice from here, what you can't see is the tinny house behind it and the fact that police often watch it (the tinny house not the cottage) from the hill opposite. painters are go Ripping up dirty old carpet is the suckiest job, next time I think I will hire a respirator, the thick clouds of dust and dirt nearly choked me.

  • liberal parenting and tattoos

    Wednesday, Sep 17, 2008 5:58AM / Standard Entry

this is my third blog in three days, woohoo I'm on a roll

For better or for worse I am a liberal parent, I was raised by a liberal parent and have become a liberal parent.  I'm not always sure this is a good thing but it's too late now....

My daughter who is only 15 has asked to go away for the weekend with her friends and I have said yes (after ascertaining where they are staying and the mode of transport (the bus))...   but they are staying with a tattooist (the older brother of one of the girls) and I have given my permission for her to have a tattoo.  Eek.... actually she wants to get a small pink rose at the nape of her neck.  The pink rose is to represent me (but that is not why I have given my permission).  I may have felt different if she wanted a big one on her arm (or somewhere where the skin is more prone to stretching from growth).

Tattoos are a part of Maori culture but she hasn't asked for a traditional moko, thank goodness as they are on the lips and chin (for women, full face for men)  I happen to think they are beautiful but not at 15, a traditional moko, imo, is something you earn the right to wear.  In the photos - Mrs Raiha Reretu (painted by Gottfried Lindauer in 1877) and Katerina Te Heikoko Mataira (author).  Most peops these days don't go the way of the traditional moko but there are still those around who have them.

  • graphic adverts

    Tuesday, Sep 16, 2008 6:06AM / Standard Entry

when I was staying at the Palace backpackers, a number of the travellers there commented how graphic our (NZ's) drinking and road safety ads were.

Here are two current ads, the first one is alcohol and I must admit I find it unsettling:
    Video: http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=E2ytIBSIy0U

The second is road safety and it is creepy:
    Video: http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=jRDXG5IlP-8

What do you think?  Would you consider these ads graphic?   I think they are but not in the blood and guts sense.

I really like this ad though, I think it's funny:
