I don't accept friend requests from people I don't know and it takes more than leaving one or two comments in my guestbook to get to know someone.

Currently reading : The Zone of the Marvellous - all the fantasies and stories about the mysterious southern lands / antipodes before they were discovered and settled (by Europeans, of course there were already people living there).

    is really frigging annoying

Personally I like to have a choice in what I watch and listen too and don't appreciate that choice being taken from me everytime I check myfeeds.

Also it interferes with other music/videos that I might wish to watch or listen to in myfeeds.  I have to scroll up or down and turn the damn thing off and then scroll back to the blog I am in - gah.

It plays everytime I navigate back to myfeeds after leaving someone a comment.  Even if I like the song or clip I am often well sick it of it towards the end of the myfeeds page it is on.

Personally I have a limited amount of mb per month (its part of the mobile broadband package I have) and I don't want to have something I have not chosen to watch/listen to streaming and chewing through it.

Someone has done this just now, so if you have a blog on that page it will be awhile before I get it - I'm too annoyed at the moment.

    End rant.

  • I'm home

    Sunday, Oct 19, 2008 6:08PM / Standard Entry

Yay, I moved into my home last week; double yay, and have been getting my stuff out of storage.

Feels great.  My mum and a friend are staying and we are all working on her cottage so it should be ship shape in no time.  I spent the day striping paint of a door (and painting etc) with a heat gun.  Heat guns are great.

Still nothing on the job front *sigh* but I haven't really had time to look.

I hope you are all well

  • Let's go to bed

    Sunday, Oct 12, 2008 8:43AM / Standard Entry

I was going call my blog, I need a bed but the Cure song kept popping into my head.  I do need a bed and I have been looking on trademe (NZ's equivalent to ebay) and also this one bed in the uk (yes sometimes I like to be decadent and I am getting a little extra on my mortgage so if I want to be extravagent and buy a bed from the other side of the world I can, it will do wonders for my carbon foot print )

    Opinions please:

I quite like oak and this would work in my new old house

This is something a bit different and is apparently hand carved in Tanzania (but I prob wont get, as cool as it is, it's not really me)

I like this one and it is reasonably priced (so are the ones above)

I really like this one too but would have to ship it from the UK (just the frame, I would get the mattress here)

yes that's me, sorry folks - despite my mobile broadband I have been awol for awhile...

Last Saturday K and I hitch hiked to Christchurch, I wanted to see my grandfather and K was staying with a friend and her brother (who is the tattooist and he wouldn't tattoo K btw as he said she was too young, hehe but I'm not the bad guy).   I was gonna take the bus but I couldn't face the length of time, I would rather stand at the side of the road than sit in a bus.  Anyhuu we had some interesting rides, the first was a kiwi guy who has been working in Dubai and designing floors 8-22 of that big rotating building they are building.  The second was a women and her two kids, she is a Filipino who has been here 15 years and runs two businesses she started from scratch.  The third was a guy who went to Nelson Boys when I was at Nelson Girls so we knew heaps of the same folk, it was great and the last was this Welsh immigrant who took me right to my  grandfathers door.   Despite it's inherent dangers, I enjoy hitchhiking and the interesting people one meets.

I did manage to get online a little down in Chch but still got a bit behind with myfeeds and comments and when I got back to Nelson I was really busy trying to get my mums cottage ready for tenanting - I still have lots to do *sigh*.

My uncle who lives in Canada has given me his car!!!  It cost me $400 to get it on the road (warrant, registration, road user charges (its diesel) etc).  Bloody great.  Thanks Unc!!  I will have to send him a thank you package with kiwi food in it (that they can't get in Canada) - stuff like vegemite, pineapple lumps, peanut slabs etc.  I picked it up from a farm outside of Chch (his wife's family) and there were rats nesting in it.  Ewwww (mind you they are farm rats not sewer rats) I have cleaned it lots and nearly got rid of the smell - it smells like tom cats had a peeing competition.

my new car with K and her friend sitting inside.

My sister was down there at cricket camp so we went and watch her play and I took her out to dinner as it was her birthday also AND my brother and sil had their 2nd baby when I was down there so I got to meet her straight away.  yay  I forgot to take photos though.  doh
