  • Padang Relief!

    Tuesday, Nov 17, 2009 4:55PM / Members only

Just someting meaningful to share...i finally got the chance to put this up...enjoy reading...its a bit long...

On 9 October 2009, came to work as usual, saw  an email from our company requesting for urgent volunteers assistance needed to pack up the Padang Relief Aid of 1000 boxes which will consists of daily supplies such as milk, instant noodles, rice, cokking oil, sanitary towel, baby pampers, toiletries, tooth brush, tooth paste, towel, milo, mineral waters, baby food, biscuits/crackers, etc ...this email caught my eyes...i immediately registered myself for it...the packing will start at 5pm - 12am... I have registered myself for the first shift which will start at 5pm till 9pm... as for the 2nd shift it will start at 9pm - 12am...

Was so excited to be part of this meaningful and charitable event...cos its my first time doing all this, I got lots of thinks in my head...imagining what will the situation looks like, what stuff we will be packing, what will an emergency aid boxes consists off, can it be done in just 7 hours, will there be enough people and etc...

Finally the time comes, I went down to our company's lobby and started to ask the people around what can i help?Even though all of us are colleagues but we rarely know each other cos our company if just too big and staff at too many...this is an excellent chance to get to know each other more...my first task was to stick a plastic to all the empty boxes so that later we can insert the checklist of items contained in that particular box into that particular plastic folder...more people came, and we have 1000 unfold boxes to be folded! I switch my task to fold boxes...all of us are working in an air-cond room but we were sweating and sweating and we can hardly feel the air-cond at all... we all did a very fast job sort of like working in factory! hahaha... at last, at 1000 boxes were folded and its time to pass it out to be sprayed with the relevant markings...we did an human chain to gets the boxes out...everything was done fast cos we co-operates well... boxes that were sprayed are line up at the corner of the lobby...

Its time to put those supplies and foods into each aid boxes... everything must be placed neatly and to make sure nothing is spoiled...once everything is in, our checkers will make sure every single box will not have extra items... then sealed it and put it aside...i left at 9pm cos I'm using public transport, if not i would have stayed longer...

The next day, i heard from the security guard that the packing lasted till 4am... gosh... i still can't believe that we have packed 1000 emergengy aid boxes...its something worth of sweating...

Some photos to share and it was taken from our company's blog...thanks to my office colleagues for those photos...

  • THIS IS IT!

    Wednesday, Nov 4, 2009 1:59PM / Members only

“This Is It” released in Malaysia’s cinema on 29 October and it will only be on 2 weeks screening (according to news article, if the response is over whelming they will consider to extend the screening period). The pre-sales for “This Is It” starts on 15 October 2009 and according to our local newspaper 10,000 advance tickets were already been grabbed on the first day of the pre-sales… MJ really got the power!

Just because it will only be on 2 weeks screening, I was waiting for 15 October to come so that I can grab the tickets before the screening just to secure my seats… hehehe…which I did… as soon as I’ve finished my work on 15 October, I rushed to cinema to buy my tickets… I will be going with my sis… hahaha… I was soo soo happy when I got my tickets and just can’t wait to watch it on 31 October 2009… Waiting for 31 October to come is really painful… hahaha… my sis was so fortunate cos she was invited to attend the premier of “This Is It”… jealous and envy… how I wish if I could tag along… hahaha… she got the chance to watch first than me… sigh…

Went for the movie on 31 October 2009, was so excited to enter the cinema… once we were inside, and once the movie starts, I was totally in love with MJ… He was such a remarkable person, a total genius, a real first class performer, a humble person, giving advise and guidance without thinking of getting anything back, a big kiddo, a real dancer, and etc… his voice is just too perfect… makes me wanna hear him sing more and more… everything about him is just totally perfect and beautiful… can actually see and feel his heart shining out through him… when I saw him in the screen, it felt so close… it just doesn’t felt that this man has already passed on…

I was particularly attracted to the thriller part… just amazing seeing how the whole thing is done… MJ behind the camera, giving his view and opinions… all the dancers were so committed… and when they dance to the thriller dance… WoW! That’s it… I fall in love again!... hahaha… I remember this is the first MV that caught my heart when I was about 5 years old… During that time, every morning, there will be some MVs been played on television and some of it will be MJ’s MV or short films…. I will be in front of the television with my small pillow & watched… felt scared when the “things’ came out of the grave… hahaha… but will still watch it again and again even though it’s a bit scary for my age… hahaha… the power of MJ… just unexplainable… he just got the things to make you likes and adore him… he just have it…

The whole movie was just interesting, getting to see him rehearse and be behind the scene is really awesome… seeing how much effort he puts into his every stage performance is just remarkable… starting from small matters till the big ones… seeing how he guides his dancers, vocalist, musician and etc was just awesome… he really gives it all out without thinking of getting anything back… he was so humble and approachable… he is just too sweet & nice… watching “This Is It” really make me feel like really watching his real concert. The feeling of watching him that close is just too great… felt like clapping out loud and screaming after watching every single dances and performance that he performed but have to hold it deep in my heart cos din want to disturb other patrons… hehehe… Gosh… it was a SuperB movie to watch… never felt so satisfied before… Plan to watch for 2nd time… and it will be 3rd time for my sis… hahaha… crazy… crazy… just being crazy… hahaha… LIVE MJ!!!....

Does he really pass away? Just still can’t accept this… He looks so real in the screen… Felt so near yet so far… Still hoping that all of this crap about his death is just a joke… I want this particular guy to be alive… He’s just a total lost to be just gone like that… after all the good things he has done… all his efforts to save this world and to make it a better place… his music… his dance moves… No matter what, it will still live on… and he will always be with us… forever and ever… MJ, we miss you dearly…
  • WORLD VISION MALAYSIA 30 HOURS FAMINE 2009, 22 & 23 August 2009

    Tuesday, Aug 25, 2009 12:11PM / Members only

At first, I thought I might not be able to complete this 30 hours famine because I have never let my stomach starve before… cos of having gastric background, I have to always make sure that my stomach is not empty if not the pain is unbearable… but can never imagine that when you really have the will to do good deeds, everything will be as good as it can be and it even get better… this is my first experience of being a part of this year’s World Vision Malaysia’s 30 Hours Famine DIY Camp and this experience means a lot to me and I will always cherished this wonderful feeling in my entire life…

I had my dinner at 12am & slept at 2.30am on 21 August 2009 cos have to make sure everything are packed and is in order for tomorrow’s big event. My sis has to stay up until 6am cos she needs to make sure that all the slides and presentations are in order for tomorrow’s event. We woke up at 7.30am on 22 August 2009 and get ready for the big day. We did our last round of checking and waited for our friend Natalie to arrive… three of us leave the house at 9am cos we are worried that there might be traffic jam, which did not happen… we arrived at meet up point at 9.15am (meet up time supposed to be 10am & we are far too early!) and we took our breakfast at a petrol station while waiting for the rest to arrive at 10am.

I only took a small packet of nasi lemak and a cup of coffee and this breakfast lasted till 7pm the next day (23 August 2009)… Throughout the 30hours of fasting from solid food, I only took 2 bottle of mineral water (which is 1.5 litre each) and a packet of soya bean (which is 1 litre)… I can never think that I can survive with only this… It’s a record breaking for me… hehehe… There is certain period when your stomach will be very hungry & what I do is, I consume lots of water to fill it up… and that period will pass and you won’t feel hungry anymore…

What I’ve learnt from all these? I have learned to be more appreciative for what I have today… The meals that I took everyday, the comfort of my bed, the people around you, the clean water you consume and etc… Through this 30 Hours Famine, I have experienced what poor people are really experiencing in their daily lives… hunger, sleeping on a hard floor, no air-cond & etc… with hungry stomach, it’s really hard to sleep… I have been having difficulty sleeping cos of hard floor & hungry…

Everyone in our DIY Camp are very friendly, warmth & co-operative… they have make our camp successful and everything goes smoothly as planned… “A BIG THANK YOU” to our CAMP LEADER, JESSICA for all her hard work & dedication, our COMMITTEE MEMBERS for being so helpful & considerate, our CAMPERS for being so friendly, warmth & co-operative & last but not least to all of our DONORS out there for their kind contribution which have enabled us to raised RM5,115.00 (it’s a big amount for us cos every single notes counts)…

I really hope that everyone can continue to do more charitable deeds so that we can reach out to those in needs out there and hope that we can make this world a better place to live in… continue giving your support and dedication, “YOU GOT THE POWER”!!!… THE POWER IS IN YOUR HAND
  • World Vision 30Hours Famine...

    Thursday, Aug 20, 2009 12:19PM / Members only

Was so excited to be part of this World Vision 30Hours Famine this year... all of us have been so busy doing our parts especially our camp leader and our committee members which has been busy preparing for this awesome event. And not to forget our campers which has registered with us to joined us for this meaningful event. I think all of us are really looking forward to this event which will kick start this saturday...but...there has been so many obstacles for us... especially for my sis and I... we have been so excited to be part of this... and now we seems to be tested for our faith... it just seems that GOD is trying to test our faith and maybe HE wanted to know how far we could take this and to see how strong we are... we just hope we are capable and strong enough to be there with the rest of the team... it will be a waste after so much thing we have done... all the hardwork... sigh...

Pray hard that we will be able to be there to experience the one time experience of a life time...

  • Michael Jackson dead at 50

    Friday, Jun 26, 2009 10:06AM / Members only

Another news that I found on net. Thought of sharing it with all of you...

    Source: http://www.edmontonsun.com/entertainment/2009/06/25/9936706.html#/entertainment/celebrities/2009/06/25/pf-9936506.html

LOS ANGELES — Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted child star who rose to become the “King of Pop” and the biggest celebrity in the world only to fall from his throne in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday. He was 50.

Jackson died at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Ed Winter, the assistant chief coroner for Los Angeles County, confirmed his office had been notified of the death and would handle the investigation.

The circumstances of Jackson’s death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to the hospital, Ruda told the newspaper.

Jackson’s death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music’s premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.

His 1982 album “Thriller” — which included the blockbuster hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.

The public first knew him in the late 1960s, when as a boy he was the precocious, spinning lead singer of the Jackson 5, the music group he formed with his four older brothers. Among their No. 1 hits were “I Want You Back,” “ABC,” and “I’ll Be There.”

He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves and his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove, tight, military-style jacket and aviator sunglasses were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.

“For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don’t have the words,” said Quincy Jones, who produced “Thriller.” “He was the consummate entertainer and his contributions and legacy will be felt upon the world forever. I’ve lost my little brother today, and part of my soul has gone with him.”

Jackson ranked alongside Elvis Presley and the Beatles as the biggest pop sensations of all time. He united two of music’s biggest names when he was briefly married to Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie, and Jackson’s death immediately evoked that of Presley himself, who died at age 42 in 1977.

As years went by, Jackson became an increasingly freakish figure — a middle-aged man-child weirdly out of touch with grown-up life. His skin became lighter, his nose narrower, and he spoke in a breathy, girlish voice. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while travelling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.

“It seemed to me that his internal essence was at war with the norms of the world. It’s as if he was trying to defy gravity,” said Michael Levine, a Hollywood publicist who represented Jackson in the early 1990s. He called Jackson a “disciple of P.T. Barnum” and said the star appeared fragile at the time but was “much more cunning and shrewd about the industry than anyone knew.”

Jackson caused a furor in 2002 when he playfully dangled his infant son, Prince Michael II, over a hotel balcony in Berlin while a throng of fans watched from below.

In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him, and of engaging in strange and inappropriate behaviour with other children.

The case followed years of rumours about Jackson and young boys. In a TV documentary, he had acknowledged sharing his bed with children, a practice he described as sweet and not at all sexual.

Despite the acquittal, the lurid allegations that came out in court took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.

Jackson was preparing for what was to be his greatest comeback: He was scheduled for an unprecedented 50 shows at a London arena, with the first set for July 13. He was in rehearsals in Los Angeles for the concert, an extravaganza that was to capture the classic Jackson magic: showstopping dance moves, elaborate staging and throbbing dance beats.

Singer Dionne Warwick said: “Michael was a friend and undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest entertainers that I fortunately had the pleasure of working with. ... We have lost an icon in our industry.”

Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson’s rented home, was roped off with police tape.

“Ladies and gentlemen, Michael Jackson has just died,” a woman boarding a Manhattan bus called out, shortly after the news was announced. Immediately many riders reached for their cellphones.

So many people wanted to verify the early reports of Jackson’s death that the computers running Google’s news section interpreted the fusillade of “Michael Jackson” requests as an automated attack for about half an hour Thursday evening.
