The Taiwanese Government has decided to use film to promote its identity and image abroad. The Government Information Office has recently bought the rights to four locally produced films to help promote Taiwan. DVDs for the films will be sent to the film organizations for 56 different countries. The hope is that they will be used for non-profit screenings and film festivals and the audiences will have a chance to learn more about Taiwan and its culture.
The films include "Chocolate Rap," "Fishing Luck," "The Shoe Fairy" and "Three Times," by noted Taiwanese director Hou Hsiao-hsien.
