the long-stemmed roses
carefully cultivated in the garden
and place them inside
a simple flower vase
on the marble table-top
in the middle of the room
You say
the pink petals of the flowers
add colour to the room
and the fragrance
sweetens the air
I remember everything you said
about the roses
even when you reached out
and knocked them over
in a fit of rage
...but you don't
I want to cut
some long-stemmed roses
carefully cultivated in the garden
but now I have
no flower vase to
