讲述封建家庭的女权
《女头家》剧集主要演员包括饰演由棕油业起家致富的“高家”最具权威的女当家杨雁雁，及与高家息息相关的主线角色人物王淑君、甘家旗、李洺仲、庄惟翔、陈诗莹、萧佩莹、温绍平、谭兆伽及吴金英等都会在檳城演绎他们的主要戏份。
剧情是由70年代延伸至2000年代，发生在高家古屋里的悲欢情节。
由杨雁雁饰演的主角高诗琴，是一个出身封建家庭的富家千金，面临重重家庭带来的无穷压力，以一个女流之辈歷尽了人生几许风风雨雨，为了破除封建的传统思想，她是设法排除万难，一力承担相传的家业，当上呼风唤雨的家业掌门人。
杨雁雁在檳城的重要戏份將由年轻演至老年，分两天拍摄她的青春年代扮相和年华老去的暮年扮相。

《女头家》封建家族下的女权斗争!
剧情主要描述发生在棕油世家“高氏”祖屋里，豪门成员争名夺利、尔虞我诈的斗争，还透露了整个强权家族里，对于女性地位的漠视。故事主角高诗琴是一个出身封建家庭的富家千金，在弟弟夭折、父亲病逝后被迫承受家族争相分产的压力。为了保住祖传的油棕事业，身为孤女的高诗琴决将心一狠，选了自家员工——软弱但老实的傅少章结婚，并招其入赘，让高家有后，继而得以守住祖业。
In earlier times and not very long ago, girls born to traditional Chinese families were deprived of privileges and opportunities reserved for males. Most of them accepted their fate dutifully and submissively.
But one woman of those oppressed times dared defy the hand she was dealt. Opportunist, manipulator, ambitious, she desired power to control her own destiny above all else.

高诗琴，女
(a) 前期 --- 25 岁
- 千金小姐，被家族斗争压逼成一个强悍的少女。
- 父亲高文桐临死之前托付遗言，要她保住祖业，以一个女流之辈，和众叔伯对抗。
- 为了获得继承权，毅然挑了温顺的员工傅少章，主动要对方入赘，以延续香火，保住祖业。可是，在生下两个女儿之后，三度怀胎生下儿子却夭折，并宣告从此不育。危机之中，她安 排了穷女工刘玉枝和自己丈夫行房，刘玉枝生下一对龙凤胎，她把儿子占为己有，然后把刘 玉枝强行嫁于呆子，放逐他乡。
(b) 后期 --- 55－60岁
- 高家祖业掌门人，性格强悍，气势十足的女强人。
- 为了自己的家族，可以不惜一切，不择手段来对付敌人。 - 岁月的磨炼，使她更沉着，城府更深。原以为自己掌控了一切，获得自己所要的东西，结果她付出了更加沉痛的代价。
- 历尽波涛之后，终于领悟，人生的得失，不在于财富，而是精神的富足。
Kao Shi Qin (earlier part), female, 25 years old
- Born a rich girl but family’s dispute over the fortune forced her to become a strong willed young lady.
- Her father’s will to protect the family business by all means leads her to fight alone with the relatives group headed by the uncles.
- Married oil palm estate clerk as she needs a male in the family in order for her to control the family business.
- Not able to produce a baby boy herself, she forces her husband to mate with a poor village girl and then takes away the baby boy she delivers.
Kao Shi Qin (later part), female, 55-60 years old
- Kao’s family business controller- a strong woman.
- Will do anything and everything to protect own family busines.
- Thinks she has control over all and can get everything she wants but ends up paying a hefty price for it.
