• A long-needed update

  Hello everyone!

  It's been waaaayyy to long since I've posted anything, so I'll try and tell you what's been happening in my life.

  At the beginning of December one of my favourite bands - The Rasmus - came into my shop and I was the only one who recognised them (because I am the only one in my shop who listens to rock music) so I went up to them and talked to them. In Finnish (because they are from Finland, and I speak a little Finnish). They were very surprised I knew them and spoke their language and invited me to their concert that night. Yey, I was on The Rasmus guestlist for an amazing gig! Thank you guys!!!!!

  But then things started to go wrong. About a week later when I came home from work my whole flat was under water!!! It took hours to clean it all up and everything was wet (my guitars!!!!!!) and my poor cat was terrified of all the water. I have wooden floors, so obviously the water soaked the floor and the wood expanded and started to become mouldy after a few days. Oh, it was such a mess! All my floors had to be dried (with machines that made one hell of a racket, and it took 4 weeks till everything was dry!) and then replaced. Which meant that I had to pack everything I owned up and completely emtpy the rooms so the damaged floor could be ripped out and the new floor could be put in. I'm not going to go into details here but it was a very unpleasant and stressful time.

  At the end of December my boss told me that I would no longer be working for him in 2009 so from January up until now I've been unemployed. I really wanna go back to England, I don't like it in Germany anymore. I've thought about going back to university and do an MA, followed by a PhD, so I can be a Doctor of Archaeology before I'm 40

  At the moment I'm spending a lot of time in hospital visiting sick people, since a lot of people I know seem to have gotten very ill recently. Oh, and yesterday I baked a cake:

• To my Mum

  Today would have been my Mum's 53rd birthday. Next month it will be 8 years since she died. Sometimes I can't believe that time has gone by so fast.

  I still get very sad when I think about her, because her death left such a big gap in my life. We were really, really close and have been through a lot together. She was the most positive person I know, so wonderful in her gentle and understanding way. She was selfless to a fault, always thinking about others first, an amazing listener, a gifted photographer and above all, the best Mum I could have wished for.

  I miss you, Mum. Happy Birthday.

• Work sucks!

  Back to real life.... I've been back at work for a week now and I wish I could just leave! I guess everyone who's just had a three-week holiday says that, but slowly but surely I'm beginning to really hate my job.

  I mean, I love selling CDs and DVDs (because I get a lot of stuff for free, hehe), but I'd rather do something meaningful with my life. I wish I'd finally had the guts to send off some ideas I had for books and a few sample chapters to a publisher. Or finally make a demo tape of the songs I've written and send it to a record company. But I guess I couldn't bear the rejection.

  My writing and songwriting means so much to me that if someone wouldn't like it I couldn't bear it. Stupid I know.

  Sometimes I hate living in Europe. Everything seems so cold, like a greedy machine that can only keep functioning if you feed it with money and success. I'm sure there's more to life than how much you earn, or how big your car is.

• Still lazy!

  Hey folks!

  Again, a week of my holiday has rushed by and I have accomplished nothing. Did I watch the Kurosawa movies? No, of course not. I watched the Star Wars trilogy about 4 times (which makes it a total of 576 times now... a rough guess, but seriously, I've seen these films stupidly often!), a couple of Korean films and some animes. I've been reading a lot ("The Fifth Sacred Thing" by Starhawk, a book about astrophysics and buddhism and of course Charles Dickens, my favourite author EVER!)

  I still have one week left of blissful peace and quiet so I really have to start working my "To Watch" pile of DVDs down. Oh, but Shawn Yue's new film came, and I've already watched it! I've also re-watched Invisible Target and parts of Wing Chun to make screenshots of Nicholas Tse and Phil Ng. And I've successfully finished FFVII - Crisis Core. Moved on to Guitar Hero now. Ok, Ok, so I haven't done "nothing", but still...

  I hereby vow to upload some pics of where I live so you guys get an idea of what it's like here in Germany, and I'll try to add some pics of the man in my life... my cat TImmy

  A week of my holiday has passed. And I can proudly say I have done absolutely NOTHING!

   The way it should be I guess. I have watched few films and played a few games. For those interested: At the moment I play Lego Star Wars (again), Onimusha 3, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy VII Crisis Core (again!). Oh, and speaking of Final Fantasy: The "great" announcement concerning Final Fantasy VII last weekend was that the Director's Cut of Advent Children (that's the movie featuring the cast of the original game, for those who don't know) will be released next MArch and that it will be about 30 minutes longer than the current version. Muhaha, 30 minutes more of Cloud's gorgeousness!!! Hehe, I KNOW he's not real, but hey, it's not like I'm ever gonna meet Harrison Ford or Nicholas Tse either, so why not worship an animated character? They're all out of reach anyway.

  Right, so next week I'm gonna watch ALL of Akira Kurosawa's movies, that's my plan anyway. Let's see how many I'll actually manage. Work has rung me twice, seems things don't work without me. But it's nice to be needed. And I've ordered Shawn Yue's new film on yesasia.com so I can't wait to see it!

  Now I'm gonna go and try to find clips of Nic performing at the opening ceremony for the Olympics yesterday. I don't have a TV aerial so I can't actually watch TV. I have a TV to watch all my DVDs with, just no TV programme broadcast officially. But I don't watch TV anyway, since German TV is about the worst in the world! All movies and TV series are dubbed in German, no original language or subtitles, all German!!!! So badly done.

  And no chinese things anyway. Sometimes late at night, you get the old Shaw Brothers classics, but that's it. And since I work in a music and DVD store I get stuff cheaper so I buy a lot. I have so many films it's unbelievable. My friends always tell me I could open my own Rental Store, hehe.

  So, who's watching the Olympics?
