The Omnivore's 100 - from Peachey

Peachey passed along this "meme" which originated at this website:

http://www.verygoodtaste.co.uk/uncategorised/the-omnivores-hundred/

I guess it's just an exercise to see if you've expanded your horizons in enjoying new tastes. It's definitely a Western-oriented list, but given that cultural bias, it's still fun.

Here are my answers. If I haven't tried it, no formatting change to the characters. If I've tried it, it's Bolded. My comments are bracketed. If I would refuse to even try it, it's struck through.

So let's see my "score". I've tried around 50 out of 100. I've had true clam chowder in Maine and Maryland, so I think that the sourdough bowl is a stupid gimmick. And smoking a cigar has nothing to do with drinking cognac -- that's not consumption. And I'd refuse....none but one out of 100. The poisonous pufferfish can't be worth the risk of having a chef who's not on his game that day. Having said that I think if I'd be hungry or desperate enough, I'd eat anything that wouldn't eat me first.

Here's my list. I listed a clean cut and paste version afterwards since I added a lot of comments in mine.

If you do your own list in your own blog, just post a notification at Peachey's blog....here's the link to her blog:

Thanks for helping me waste a couple of hours of my time Peachey! Crap, now I'm both hungry AND behind schedule.

Thank you muy for doing this meme. I like your added comments. Steamed pork buns come frozen too but fresh is much better. Caviar is pretty awful. Kobe beef isn't that expensive (lol). KK's - may as well swallow a few tablespoons of sugar instead - awful. Baiju has much higher alcohol content than sake. I want some polenta - sounds so delicious and home-y. Thanks again.

lol, loved the comments, I think its American as oppossed to Western, it took me a bit to figure out that PB&J meant peanut butter and jelly and a lot of the food I haven't heard of or it is called something different ie clotted cream tea, which sounds like you put clotted cream into tea (ewww) but really it is tea with scones, cream and jam and called Devonshire tea in the UK, NZ and Aust

Doesn't sound American to me, Jaine. I couldn't even read past the first five. I am NOT an adventurous eater. Congrats to you for even doing it, Flag. : )

50 out of 100 and only one thing you wouldn't try - well you're definitely open minded when it comes to eating. I'd like to think I might be too but we'll see when I go through the list. Your commentary was quite amusing :) LOL to #100 and thanks for explaining what some of this is :D

Hungry & behind schedule, not a good combo for a person lol. My brain has been too many everywhere's to figure out anything lately. As a friend of mine once said, 'If it's edible I'll eat it, if it's food I'll like it'. That pretty much sums up my philosophy so I'd give pretty much anything a shot, but there are lots of things I haven't tried yet on the list.

I am a very squeamish eater. I had dinner with friends last night and one of them seemed to have tried all kinds of food.
