Faye Wong to Visit Children in Need in Hangzhou

Chinese pop diva Faye Wong is scheduled to visit children who suffer from cleft lips and young quake victims receiving treatments in Hangzhou, eastern China's Zhejiang Province, in early June. It's reported that Faye Wong will go with her husband, actor Li Yapeng, who will attend the launching ceremony of a charity fund for children with cleft lips in Zhejiang.

The couple set up a charity fund to help children with cleft lips in 2006 shortly after the birth of their daughter Li Yan, who was born with the disease. The pop diva has then devoted herself to charity activities. Her latest public performance was singing for the victims of the May 12 earthquake.

It's good to see Wong Faye back out in public, and doing good things!

Interesting.  Cleft lip & cleft palette are issues most people never think about.  They can cause a lot of problems with eating and speaking and can lead to serious ear problems.  Clefts can be fixed pretty easily if done when a child is young, so awareness & access to medical care are essential.  Good for Faye & her husband. :)
